In the Burgundy region of France is the legendary maker of fine French cookware named Emile Henry. There, potters still hand craft each piece from the local Burgundy Clay - one of the purest of clays, and finish each one with a process known as CERADON, which makes them extremely solid and durable. Bets a bowl!

There are times when you look at kitchen tools that you find something you didn't know you needed and when it arrives you discover that you were right -- you didn't need it.

Not the case here!

I had been using a shallow bowl to hold my kosher salt and had to deal with spilt salt on the counter, clumpy salt in the bowl, and always having to pull out the box to refill the little bowl. This salt pig keeps the salt off the counter, keeps the salt dry, holds plenty of salt, and looks great.

The wide mouth accomodates my large mitts, too!

I bought this product for a friend who also loves to cook. I've had my Salt Pig for 3 years. Kosher salt is great to use and this product keeps it at your fingertips. Despite humid weather, the salt stays dry.

Have one for salt one for pepper. Nougat and Slate. Large enough opening for my husband to get salt and pepper easily. I like looks and functionality.

Love this salt pig! It's so easy to get your hand into and keep salt from clumping. I would recommend this to everyone, and it's doesn't have a look of a pig to ruin the looks of a kitchen that does not have pigs everywhere LOL!

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Kosher salt got its name from its use in the koshering process, where, because of its large grain, it does a better job than fine salt drawing moisture from meats. This ability to draw liquids from foods also makes it useful in preserving and is used in curing prosciutto and brining sauerkraut.
