Whether you fancy yourself an artisan bread-maker or one who's proud to produce a loaf from a favorite local bakery, you'll want to present the tempting result at the table, along with a handsome knife that's fit for the task. As any baker knows, bread stays fresher when it's left whole until the last minute and cut immediately before serving. This 8" blade is long enough to comfortably cross-slice peasant loaves, broad brioches, or smaller boules; admirably rigid, to ensure straight cuts; and finished with a superb scallop edge that will easily slip through the crispiest crusts.

Features of SIGMAFORGE® knives are:

  • New one piece construction
  • High forging precision
  • Higher stability of blade
  • Perfect geometry
  • Improved steel structure for less metal fatigue
  • Improved cutting-edge retention and lasting sharpness
  • Improved weight and balance
  • FRIODUR® ice hardened for maximum no-stain properties and more blade strength

    A must have
    by Karen, LA

We are a family of bread lovers so it's actually surprising that we haven't purchased a bread knife already. After using this knife, I can't imagine NOT having one now. Slices soft and firm breads easily. For the first time, my sliced bread doesn't look mangled! This knife is a must-have!

    High quality knife

I really like all the Henckles 4-star knives that I've purchased. Please note that there is a huge difference between Henckles and Henckles International. The latter are made by a Chinese company and are a flimsy imitation at best. The 4-star is by the German company Henckles and has all the hallmarks of the fine quality that they are known including cold hardened steel, tang that goes all the way through the handle, well-proportioned handle and blade so it balances well in the hand, and holds an edge really well. Unlike some bread knives, this one cuts clean through even relatively crumbly bread without tearing it.

Remember never to store good bakery bread in plastic bags- it will ruin the crust. Instead, store in a paper bag at room temperature. If you don't finish it within a day or two, slice and put in the freezer for the next time you want toast for breakfast.
