I like the flat sides, much easier to use than a round steel.

This is the best sharpening tool I have ever owned!
It really puts a nice sharp edge on a knife.
I have just recently replaced 35 year old knives with a set by Henckels, so I wanted a really good sharpener to keep the new knives sharp.
I am really glad I made this choice.
Sharpener has a nice weight and feel, flat sides provide good contact edge with the knife, the sharpened edge is as good as I have seen or created without sending my knives to be professionally sharpened.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Contrary to what you might think, a sharp knife is actually safer than a dull knife. The important thing to remember when chopping and cutting is to let the knife do the work for you. A sharp knife allows you to do that, but a dull knife requires you to exert more pressure to get the job done, which means your hand has a greater chance of slipping.
