For home cooks who care about what they feed their families and want to stretch their dollars, this eagerly awaited debut cookbook from Melissa d’Arabian, host of Food Network's Ten Dollar Dinners and winner of The Next Food Network Star, makes good on the $10 promise of dinner for four.

With four young girls ages six and under, and a hit show on Food Network, Melissa d'Arabian focuses on savvy budgeting, efficient shopping, and full-flavored cooking. Ten Dollar Dinners has 140 recipes and more than 100 creative, practical tips on great money-savers (“Clear-Your-Pantry Week”); inventive takes on old standby dinners (try her Moroccan Meatloaf); and how to get ingredients to last longer (keep your green onions in a glass of water and they will re-grow several times over!). And with a coding system to help you create your own $10 menu, Ten Dollar Dinners celebrates spending with purpose, cooking with love, minimizing time spent in front of the stove, and savoring your homemade meal.

Melissa is a pro at creating satisfying meals that adults and kids alike will enjoy, using everyday ingredients, transforming them into delicious dinners: Her Potato Bacon Torte (which, at 50 cents a serving, was one of her winning recipes on The Next Food Network Star) shows how basic and inexpensive grocery store ingredients can be turned into an amazingly satisfying dish. Her Roasted Vegetable Tian is a great way to take advantage of deals in the produce aisle. The 4-Step Chicken offers a plan for getting food on the table in just minutes, using almost anything in the pantry.

Anyone can use this book, especially those who want to save money and feel great about cooking sensibly for elevated, simple meals that are healthy family-pleasers.

On her daytime cooking series, season five winner of The Next Food Network Star and stay-at-home mom, Melissa d'Arabian, shows viewers how to incorporate creative and tasty meals into their budgets by sharing her tried-and-true recipes. With countless tips to save time and money in the kitchen, she keeps her $10 promise in every episode: four people, ten bucks, infinite possibilities. From approachable Parisian and Moroccan menus to sophisticated upgrades for everyday chicken and pork, Ten Dollar Dinners with Melissa d'Arabian demonstrates home cooking at its finest.

Excellent book. Pictures of people and food are beautiful. Instructions are clear. Wish some more recipes I have seen Melissa cook on TV were included. I get such great tips for cooking in general from watching her shows. Wish the book included list of recipes that would freeze well. I live alone, so can actually only use recipes I can freeze in individual servings.

I love this cookbook! It has such variety and beautiful pictures of the author's family which is a bonus. She shares such details of being thrifty, which is a hobby of mine, and ways to embellish food for little extra cost. A bargain at any price - I am going to order another one for my daughter's Christmas gift.

We preordered this book. It's already full of post-it notes for recipes to try out and ones to repeat. As a single mom with teenagers we really enjoy trying out these easy, inexpensive recipes! I love that most of the ingredients are already in the kitchen and not pricey, top-shelf and hard-to-find.

I had placed an advanced order for the Ten Dollar Dinners cookbook when Melissa D'Arabian appeared on QVC last month. It had a reduced price because it was an advance order but then adding shipping and handling and tax it still was a good deal. I was happily surprised when watching FoodNetwork and seeing the ad for her cookbook with an earlier shipping date and with a greater discount than QVC. After having this cookbook for several days I would have been happy even paying the original price! I recommend this book for anyone who will ever spend a moment in a kitchen. Congrats Melissa!

Best Cookbook

This cookbook has so many things going for it. The variety of recipes, easy explainations on cooking terms and ideas, and what I call the economical meal rating system. This system is wonderful and really helpful in putting good meals on the table with low costs. This is so needed in these tough economical times with food prices rising. I have tried 5 recipes so far and loved them all. My husband who is a very picky eater said I could even make him the skirt steak and carmelized onion recipe for him again he liked it so much. I absolutely love the four step chicken picata recipe. It served so much and was to die for and so easy.

I love this cookbook! Many of the recipes use ingredients I have in my pantry. I don't have to go to the store and find some obsure ingredient I never heard of and will never use again. I hate spending money on ingredients I will only use once and usually end of hating the taste. Thanks Melissa!

I've enjoyed watching Melissa's cooking show on the Food Network and couldn't wait to try her new cookbook. So far, I've only tried a few of the recipes, but have enjoyed every one. I like the photos that show what the end result should look like and highly recommend this cookbook.

I LOVE this cookbook!! As a busy mother myself (4 yr old little girl and 2 year old twins) I look for any help I can get to make meals quick and affordable! Melissa's tips throughout the book are truly little gems! I have learned SO MUCH from watching her over the years, and the tips in the books have been invaluable. She is the one and only reason I am not afraid to make my own pastry dough!!! She made it look and sound so easy, and it really is! I will be buying this book as Christmas gifts for my friends! LOVE IT!
