For taking care of such tasks, this wire mesh basket will quickly do the job. I had to replace two colanders I have used for 20+ years. Since I could not find the same kind as my old ones (poly coated wire mesh), I ordered these as they are similar. I find that the wire mesh is not as strong as my old ones, but the sizes are fine and they work well. If I am careful with them, I am sure they will serve me well for many years.

They are what I expected - very functional. My only concern is that after some use I fear the mesh will separate from the frame - has happened with other items of this type, though so far, so good for these strainers.

These are just what I was looking.The exception was that the support wires run across the bottom,which adds problems to cleaning.I cured this by silver soldering the wires to the rings on top and bottom and then cutting the bottom wires away.

My step-daughter was cooking with me at my house and we used one of my seives that is part of the set. She asked for the set for Christmas, and is delighted to have it. These are good and sturdy.
