Not what it looks like
by Kim, IL

I had presumed with the picture that the whole thing was procelain only to open it up and find out the inside was sandy and grainy. I have seen them that they are all porcelain but this is not. The item is being returned.

Mortar and Pestle
by ira, NY

This is big enough for my purposes (a family of 3). It certainly is sturdy and does it's job well the fact that it is good looking also is a pleasant plus.

Haven't had a chance to use the mortar and pestle yet. The end of the pestle is interesting in that it's rough. Feel that will be an asset in grinding my herbs. Love the size and look of the product sitting on my granite counter top.

great product
by Michelle, NJ

I bought this item for my son for Christmas and he loves it. He's been looking for one but could only find a 2 ounce which was just too small for his needs. Prior to this purchase I replaced a pyrex baking dish. love your products

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

The mortar and pestle has been around for thousands of years and was originally used by pharmacists when administering medicine. It's still around today because it works so well, and you don't have to be a pharmacist to use one. It's a great kitchen staples because it does an excellent job of grinding spices or even making pesto and guacamole.
