excellent addition to the kitchen
I've only used the pan several time but it seems well built. The pan heat up quickly and cooks evenly. The main handle stays cool during the entire cooking process and the smaller handle opposite the main handle makes lifting the pan when full simple. This is not a teflon coated pan and should not be treated as such. It seems those who have grown up using teflon pans try to treat every pan as such and learn a hard lesson. Every peice of cookware has a specific purpose just like every tool in a tool box has a purpose. One wouldn't drive a nail with a screw driver or remove a screw with a wrench.
The large cooking surface of this pan is great and the product seems to work fine. I've had a set of Emirel cookware for several years and love those. Compared to my set, this 5 qt. saute pan has lighter weight handles and the thickness of the metal core on the bottom is slightly thinner. I did not compare the actual gauge measurements of my new and old stainless steel Emiril cookware to see if in fact the new one is thinner than the old. Having said that, the 5 qt. pan heats up fine for such a large surface area--something I was initially concerned about because my stove burners are just normal size--not commercial ones. The only thing I can't comment on is its durability which I associate with the overall lighter weight of this pan and its glass lid. They are lighter compared to my other stainless steel Emiril cookware which have smaller diameters. The durability is something that I will know only over the next couple of years. But overall, I love the large cooking surface and all the food in the pan is heating up quickly and throughout the whole surface area.
My wife and I recently purchased a new ceramic top range. I researched the products and prices and went with these for style, price and the fact that they were OK with a ceramic top stove and also dishwasher safe. Have not yet had them in the dishwasher because for now I want them staying brand new. Very happy with this product.
This saute pan delivers all it could. Heats evenly on flat top and gas, lid fits well, and relatively easy to clean (as easy as non-stick can be). It's the same high quality All-Clad and Emeril have produced for years. Sides are a bit taller than some which is a real plus.
