A wood specialist for more than 50 years, Catskill's experience with select eastern hardwoods sets it apart. The company uses only non-endangered, self-replenishing domestic species, such as hard maple and birch. Its popular Pastry Board features markings that help you roll out a pastry disk that fits your particular pie pan. Dimensions are in both U.S. standard and metric, and the reverse side can be used for regular chopping chores.

Products offered by Catskill Craftsmen are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily birch and hard rock maple. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. Catskill Craftsmen operations generate no wood waste.

This is excellent and I exepect it will last a lifetime with the proper care. The markings are fabulous for using with pastry. This is definitely worth the money.

The board was a gift for my sister who does pies. After receiving it, I knew that I wanted one for myself also!
Perfect size and weight for my chopping needs, etc.

I particularly like the fact that this pastry board does not have the lip that wraps around the counter. While those others may be great for preventing slipping, they are awkward and hard to store. This pastry board is large which is wonderful, the markings come in handy or you can use the side that has no markings and it stores easily.

I bought this pastry board for myself several years ago and just love it. The one I purchased now was a Christmas present for my daughter. The moment she saw mine, she wanted one!

Excellent product-- I was looking for a large (but not too large) pastry board of good wood quality (vs. acrylic). This was exactly what I wanted: the markings on it for pastry can be ignored if you're using for other purposes, but come in handy if making pie crusts. Clean up is easy, too-- after all, it is wood!

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Rolling out pastry can be frustrating, especially if it's a warm day and you're working with an especially soft, buttery recipe like pâte sablée. If it starts to get sticky and you're at your wit's end, just scrape it back together and refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour while you take a break. Pastry dough can almost always be salvaged.
