The pot itself is fine, but I bought it specifically for pasta cooking. Unfortunately, if you fill the pot so that there's enough water in the insert, it boils over. The insert never has enough water for the pasta.

A heavy pot for almost all cooking needs. I've made over twenty quarts of applesauce in it this fall and have had no scorching. The thick bottom heats evenly. I'm very happy with this product.

This pot sees use constantly in my kitchen. For soup, pasta, steaming vegetables....The only problem is when I have two things I want to use it for at once! Very sturdy, but use a pot holder to take the lid off; it'll be HOT! Just to note, you need quite a bit of water to cook pasta with this, as the insert does not come very close to the bottom of the pot. Overall, though, excellent pot!

We have just remodeled our kitchen and bought the SS Stockpot before it was finished. I was excieted about getting to use it. We bought a new stove top and it will only use certain cookwear. We did not know this at the time we bought the stockpot. When the kitchen was completed I was nervous...but...it worked. It has been fun using it. We've made pasta (it has the pasta strainer inside)and it works great, with the new stove top it heats up quickly and very evenly. We've made stock, soups, stews and vegetables (it has a steam basket). The pots heats up great, cooks food evenly and cleans up great. Along with all of that it had a great sale on it. We have bought a lot of items through foodnetwork store and have loved all the items. Thanks Linda Miller

I cook a lot of pasta. For years I've used the colander. This pot is great, I just use the basket provided. The added bonus is that the same pot can be used to steam my veggies!

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Tomato paste adds rich, hearty flavor to soups and stews. Buy it in tubes instead of cans so you can use what you need, then store the rest in the fridge for the next time you need it.
