the pot looked nice and I was so hopeful but the inside of the insert pot was not smooth and the weight, quality not very impressive. I followed direction for removing protective film. then proceed to cook oatmeal and it was okay..untill after a few minutes of sitting it turned the oatmeal black. What is in that metal? I repeated and got the same result. Interesting as my daughter recently bought a stainless steel butter dish that turns butter black. Being in health field I am concerned about what is actually in this metal and think the company selling ti should look into it, removing it from sales until resolved.

The double boiler was much smaller than I anticipated.

This is a lovely double-boiler, but prepare for the extensive prep to be able to use the set. Because of some sort of veneer they've put on the copper coating, you have to prep the pots in a hot-water bath with baking soda. A huge headache that I was not expecting. They should do this at the factory, not ship it out to customers with such a requirement. As a result, I had to postpone making soufflés the night I was on deck to contribute that to a group meal. Very annoying!

I love this double boiler Does it come in a larger size ?

I believe the description of this double boiler set specified it was a 2 qt. I found, however, that the top part held only 6 cups of liquid, possibly 7 if it was filled to the brim. I had hoped to be able to put in 2 qts. of liquid. It's a nice set though and I just cut my recipe in half.
