Silver Salt/Pepper Gravity Mill (7.75-in.)

This was the biggest waste of money I think I have ever spent, I only opened one of these to use as a pepper grinder and it takes about 30 seconds to get the pepper out.I bought these due to its manufactures stated use, but it is not even close. I would have rated this product as a zero, but I wasn't given that option. This was suggested to me by a customer service employee who answered the phone. I know now that they don't know anything about the products (that) they sell. I will never use this company to purchase anything.

Very Disappointed

After the reviews I read prior to purchasing this product I thought this would be a great performer. However, after we got it it kept binding up when it was grinding pepper and it eventually just got completely bound up. We bought a hand (manual grind) pepper grinder to replace it because we love freshly ground pepper.

Bottom needs lube job

I had a Hell of a time trying to get the bottom off the mill so I could install the battries. After I got the bottom off, I smeared a little cooking oil around the inside of the base and, this sloved the problem of getting the bottom off the mill.

The price is a bit steep, but the mill works well. Be carefull when installing batteries or you will have peppercorns all over the floor. The bottom opens clockwise, instead of counter-clockwise.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

When it comes to buying ground pepper versus grinding your own, there's no comparison. Use a grinder to grind peppercorns, and see how pepper is really supposed to taste. Not only is the flavor fresh and good, it also gives you a lot of freedom with your pepper: use a coarse grind (big chunks) for bold pepperiness on meat and salad, and a fine one for fish or lighter soups.
