I received this as a gift and really enjoy using it. I looked at several machines before selecting this and I am extremely happy with my selection. I have made a couple of different ice creams from the recipe book that come with the machine and have been fairly pleased with the results. I ordered another book on making ice cream and can't wait to try some more creative recipes. Have also used it to make sorbet. That also turned well. I did not find the machine to be loud as some reported. I was able to carry on a conversation in the kitchen with it running with no problems. Really love this machine!
This works so well. Makes great ice cream in 20 to 25 minutes. The only problem I have had with it is getting all of the ice cream out of it. I use it once or twice a week and could not be more pleased with it.
I enjoy this ice cream maker; it is extremely easy to use, and the ice cream is delicious.
I waited several years before finally deciding to purchase an ice cream maker. I bought this one mostly because of the capacity and because it makes frozen yogurt, gelato, ice cream and sorbet.
So far I've only made lemon sorbet, but it was the best tasting sorbet we've ever tasted. I do plan on making all the other types of frozen desserts in the future though.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who is interested in making their own frozen desserts at home.
I am disappointed as I have not been able to try the unit yet because the ad failed to mention that two things were required to use it: space in your freezer for the two quart bowl and, seemingly, a freezer at zero Farenheit
I have always wanted an ice cream maker but who wants to bother with salt and ice. I watch Food Network religiously and they are always making ice cream but I never believed it could be that easy. I brought it, tried the simple vanilla ice cream thinking in 25 minutes I am going to have soup. It was the best tasting ice cream I ever had. I just made lemon sorbet. I am in heaven. Thanks once again Food Network.
Easy to learn to use, and it's nice you don't have to make big batches if you're a smaller household. I bought it for the grandchildren's visits & they love to make their own flavors.
I ordered this and was very pleased with it. The ice cream was verry good . I found it easy to use and easy to clean up. With our seven grandkids we will use it a lot.
We are very pleased with this Ice Cream Maker. We have made the peanut butter cup ice cream and lemon ice cream with 1 T of lemon extract. Both turned out perfect!
We really like this ice cream maker. We found the recipes on the Cuisinart website are better than the ones in the book which accompanies the maker. Also, run the machine longer than the specified time. The consistency and taste are better than the ice cream made with the rock salt and the hand crank! This is one more thing to get your kids involved in the kitchen and with each other!
This ice cream maker is very easy to use and makes the best homemade ice cream I've ever tasted--minus the hassles of using ice and rock salt! I just keep the cylinder in the freezer at all times so it's ready to use anytime. It's very attractive and looks great just sitting on my kitchen countertop. Thank you for a great product.
I have had my Cuisinart ice cream maker for about a month now and made only four batches of ice cream, all from recipes that came with the unit. Haven't tried sorbet or yogurt yet, just ice cream using seasonal fruit. What I have learned is that it is super important to have the freezer bowl well frozen and the ingredients very cold before starting to churn. My first batch of ice cream was perfect, the next three, still slushy even giving it a longer churning time. Subsequently frozen slush is very hard and not especially easy to spoon out. Still tastes good, but the texture is not AT ALL what you want.
The unit is NOT quiet, but it is VERY easy to use. The 2-qt capacity is very nice, makes just enough till you can re-freeze the bowl (24 hours) and make another batch. The removable bowl has to be completely frozen before use, so multiple batches in one day are not possible. You also need enough room in your freezer to store the unit upright, not tipped.
I am concerned that the paddle will not hold up as long as the unit. The unit seems very sturdy. The paddle is plastic, and in my opinion, a bit on the thin side. Time will tell.
This unit is easy to clean, easy to use. Its square shape makes it pretty easy to store, though I suggest leaving the freezer bowl in the freezer so it is always ready.
This product does not freeze well. Best we got was a very thin "shake" consistency of ice cream- following one of the reciepes provided. Disappointing.
Based in part, on the reviews submitted by others, I purchased this sturdy ice cream machine and could not be happier. It is easy to use, to clean and makes unlimited frozen deserts and drinks. I've made several flavors of ice cream, raspberry sorbet and a thick, fresh pineapple drink with texture that turns out like liquid silk. My family is thrilled with this treat maker. I recommend recipes from the Food Network site (especially Alton Brown's) and from the book "The Perfect Scoop" by David Lebovitz. Yes, it is a little noisy, but it is so worth the result. You won't be disappointed.
Tired of the mess and inconvenience of making homemade ice cream? This is the answer to easy, yummy ice cream anytime. A little noisy, but so are all of the other ice cream makers I have used.Plan to get one for my 84 yr. old mother so she can enjoy her favorite treat anytime.
Machine is easy to use, the recipes are great!
Overall it is very easy to use and does well giving a really good frozen dessert. The only complaint I have it the On - Off knob/switch is very flimsy and cheap and I am not sure how long it will actually hold up
the ice cream maker worked very well. i recommend freezing the container the maximum suggested time to insure proper consistency at the end. i've made vanilla, simple chocolate, and fresh strawberry so far. the recipes in the book seem to be accurate, although my next batch of vanilla will have slightly less sugar in it. the only drawback i can see is i don't think you can make 2 batches back-to-back without refreezing the container, or getting a 2nd container to have frozen and ready. overall, a very simple, capable, and competant piece. i'm glad to have it in my kitchen!
Nice machine, Cuisinart, it works like a charm. Granted, it would be easier and cheaper to just trot down to the local creamery & buy a half gallon, but where's the fun in that? Thus far I've made lime sorbet & strawberry ice cream and both were delicious as well as 100% natural. Now all I have to do is learn how to moderate my intake.
We love how fast this works and the results taste great. I only would wish that the ice cream wouldn't get rock hard. Has anyone an idea how to make it the way the ice cream manufacturers do?
