The newest breakthrough in sharpening technology, the M130, presents all your sharpening options in one compact appliance. It professionally sharpens, steels or strops all brands and types of knives; straight edge or serrated, kitchen, Asian style, sports and pocket knives in seconds. Three stages make it possible to obtain a "better than factory" edge quickly and effortlessly. Stage 1, using 100% diamond abrasives, sharpens the edge. Stage 2 is a super-hardened miniature steel that develops a shaving sharp edge with ultra-sharp microscopic teeth, providing a superior edge "bite". In stage 3, a revolutionary flexible stropping disk polishes the edge to hair-splitting sharpness. Using these stages in different combinations produces custom edges, suited to a particular cutting task. Built-in, high precision, user friendly elastomeric angle guides guarantee fool-proof sharpening. Assembled in the U.S.A. Limited three year warranty.
This product put a better edge on my knives than they came with, and they are one of the top German brands. It is easy to use, and the automatic spring-loaded edge angle feature works as advertised.
The instructions for this knife sharpener are complicated, obtuse & difficult to understand. They are written as if the only people using the machine are professional knife sharpeners who have sharpened thousands of knives. The instruction manual could be significantly improved by putting in some pictures of knives & the machine in action.
The performance of the machine is excellent. My solid edge knives couldn't be sharper -- and perhaps even sharper than when purchased. I'm not so sure it does much good for the serated knives -- I don't see much difference. But then, perhaps, I don't understand the directions for serated knives (other than it says that it supposedly works on them).
I got it because it was recommended by Cooks Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen and they did not steer me wrong. I have kitchen knives that I have had for over 30 years. This sharpener is easy to use and has made the edges like new. It is expensive; no doubt about it, but it is worth it.
I have retired my sharpening steel since I bought this great product. If you are investing in a set of fine knives, this sharpener is a must. Plainly put, it is very effective and very easy to use. Your knives will be sharper than when you first obtained them and will actually feel more useful. The price sounds like a lot until you realize how much a good set of professional quality knives costs.
I am very satisfied with this purchase.
I purchased this for my husband, and he is very happy with all our sharp knives. He appreciates the ease in using the sharpener, and the results. Good product!
Be careful your knives get really sharp and don't know what I
did without it.
This product was great for sharpening our expensive knives. Easy to follow directions and it did a great job.
Very easy to use and did an excellent job on all types of knives. I have been looking for a sharpener of this quality and ease of use for the home for many years. When you have a very sharp knife it is easier and safier to use. All cooks should have this sharpener in their kitchens even if they only use knives occassionally.
An excellent product. What impresses me the most is the ease of use and how fast it gives you a truely sharp edge
We got tired of dull knives and when a friend heard our dilemma we followed his advice and bought the model 130 and it's done a fabulous job for us!
This is expensive, but so worth it. For the first time in years, every knife I own has a perfect edge on it. I do know how to sharpen a knife, but honestly, this sharpener puts as fine an edge on a knife as I can, in only seconds. Best kitchen gadget purchase of the year.
I looked at all the positive reviews for this sharpener and decided to try it. I'm glad I did! I have several quality knives, but I'm not great at keeping a sharp edge. A power sharpener seemed like the right idea. This one puts an edge on each knife that is perfect. What more can I ask for?
This was the product Cooks Illustrated rated as the top model, and I certainly agree. Sharpened all of my knives flawlessly and with great ease. I use this product every week - as my knives need attention. I would highly recommend this product. It's the top choice for my kitchen.
Used it tonight for the first time. So far I am impressed with the results. Put a great edge on several Knifes. Maybe an onine video would make it easier for some to use it.
I've have my knives sharpened professionaly and I have to say this products works just as well. The knives have a razor sharp edge to them. They cut through tomatoes without squashing them and it doesn't cost me $16 per knive. It's great
This works fine for non-serated metal knives holding the angle well. Some handles will prevent sharpening near the blade's heel due to clearance. The middle station is just a steel which seems a waste. Not for scissors. Pocket-knives too short.
No serious cook should be without one.
when I saw this great knife sharpener on America's Test Kitchen, I knew that I would have to buy it for my husband as a Christmas gift. He was very surprised and didn't expect it. For the week after Christmas, he tried it out on anything that had a blade and was very quick to report on it. It is a great product and we look forward to many years of effortlessly sharpened knives.
Easy to use and works great, it's the best.
really does the job

Contrary to what you might think, a sharp knife is actually safer than a dull knife. The important thing to remember when chopping and cutting is to let the knife do the work for you. A sharp knife allows you to do that, but a dull knife requires you to exert more pressure to get the job done, which means your hand has a greater chance of slipping.
