Products offered by Catskill Craftsmen are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily birch and hard rock maple. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. Catskill Craftsmen operations generate no wood waste.

Maybe a little expensive
by Michael, NY

While the quality is excellent, I think that the price is a little steep for this cutting board.

Fine furniture
by Kevin, MO

Fine furniture is an apt description for this cutting board. It's massive, and is something that will stay out on the work area at all times. The size offers a substantial work surface, while the mass makes for a very stable platform for any sort of knife or prep. The workmanship is excellent, and being a woodworker myself, I can be a bit picky about such things. The fact that I was willing to pay for this item rather than take the time to make one up myself should say something about the difficulty and labor involved in dong a cutting board well. Faced with the same choice again, I'd still buy this one rather than make one myself. Keep it oiled with a good mineral oil, and this one should last a lifetime. Very satisfied.

excellent board
by Duane, CA

We love the color and quality of this block. We found a 16 x 16 x 2.5 block on clearance for $30 made in China. It's a great value, but we can clearly tell the difference in quality and wood grain. We are glad we bought this american hardwood block.

Color
by Donna, TN

I must say I am dissapointed with the color. I assumed it was the rich dark brown that your food personalities use in thier shows. This is light in color and does not go with my kitchen. Rich dark colors. As a last hope I have oiled it several times to rich the color, but am unsuccessful. 160 was alot to spend and be dissapointed.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

When you need to gather up your chopped ingredients on your cutting board, don't scrape with the edge of your knife; it will dull the blade. Instead, flip the knife over and use the non-sharpened edge to collect, then transfer, your ingredients to the pan.
