Products offered by Catskill Craftsmen are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily birch and hard rock maple. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. Catskill Craftsmen operations generate no wood waste.
This is a wonderful butcher block, and fits perfect on my countertop.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! this product..
The first one I received arrived with the box corner torn off and a gouge in the corner of the slab. Because of how expensive the slab is, I felt I should have received it in perfect condition. It was more work than I thought it would be to get a replacement (had to provide photos) but in the end, another one was shipped to me and it is absolutely beautiful! I really appreciated the instructions that came with it which let me know that it had been initially oiled but that I would need to oil it prior to use to "set" it and seal it.
I must say I am dissapointed with the color. I assumed it was the rich dark brown that your food personalities use in thier shows. This is light in color and does not go with my kitchen. Rich dark colors. As a last hope I have oiled it several times to rich the color, but am unsuccessful. 160 was alot to spend and be dissapointed.

When you need to gather up your chopped ingredients on your cutting board, don't scrape with the edge of your knife; it will dull the blade. Instead, flip the knife over and use the non-sharpened edge to collect, then transfer, your ingredients to the pan.
