This is the Nesco® Roaster that everyone remembers. It's the one that Grandma had at home to cook the turkey at Thanksgiving. It’s also one of the most versatile cooking appliances available. It has all the outstanding features of our legendary 18-Quart standard model, at a price customers find hard to resist. For many, it's the primary kitchen oven. For others, a second oven for the family room, porch, or cabin. It's portable, so you can take it along for family outings.
This unit is ideal for large meals and entertaining in the home. Roast a whole turkey, up to 22 pounds, pot roast, pork roast, ham, or whole chickens. Bake cookies, cakes, pies, quiche, even whole meals! Cook soups, stews, lasagna, and hot dishes. Make enough chili for the whole gang! Steam/poach vegetables, seafood, and poultry. Slow cooks less tender cuts of meat, too.
Features:
Easy to use, easy to clean, did a perfect cooking job. Gets a little hot on the outside, but not a problem as long as it's sitting in the right spot when you start cooking.
I like the roaster, it performed well. Though I was expecting it to have more of a solid feel as did the old time electric roaster but I have no complaints about it.
your company was on time and delivered product safely, thank you
Now I can quit griping about not having a double-oven! With the meat simmering in the roaster, the side-dishes don't have to wait. Thank you, Pillsbury! This is exactly what I wanted for my birthday!
We had a challenge for Thanksgiving -- how to cook for 24 guests with a New York City-size 24 inch wide stove? We decided to use the oven for a 22 lb turkey and buy an old-fashioned roaster oven, like my Aunt Leta would have used back in the 1950s, for a 14 lb Smithfield ham. We looked at all sorts of models on the Internet -- no-stick linings, stainless steel outsides, convection ovens, etc. -- and I decided against Bill's advice that expensive-means-better. I orded this Nesco model not just because it was affordable, but because it looked like it could do the job with no fuss or explosions. And it exceeded Bill's expectations -- he first used the cooker to soak the salf out of the ham for 24 hours, and then slowly cooked it for 3 hours after doing his magic with the spices. Bill, who studied at the Greenbriar Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, said it was the best ham he ever made. And Bill knows his hams -- he's from Virginia, where Smithfield hams are born and smoked. Oh yes, every one of the 24 hungry friends who came over for T-day liked the ham too. Very little left-overs. We couldn't say that for the turkey, though.
Despite what you might think, washing chicken before cooking is not a good idea- it will just get bacteria all over the sink. Properly cooking it- to an internal temperature of 180 degrees F in the thigh- kills all the bacteria.
