Made the savory pie recipe and it was wonderful! The mold has vent cutters on both sides, so be sure to cover up the bottom one with a little extra dough so the pie won't leak. Other than that, the mold worked perfectly. Am looking forward to making a bunch of fruit pies.
I had bought a number of these molds and found all of them to be practical and very useful for my needs. It holds an adequate amount of filling for me and thats a big plus. I had previously bought a pie pop maker and it turns out small 'pies' that really seem more like toaster pastries than pies in my estimation as pies should be chock full of filling. This handles a lot more filling and makes it easier to make a large number of them with less time wasted. They also turn out consistently beautiful pies that you can show off at a bake sale or two.
I bought a number of these in different shapes. I really like all of them as the form allows me to make adequately filled handpies fast and with less mess than if I did them 'free hand'. They are also very easy to clean and seem to be durable. If you like to make individual servings of sweet and savory pies for snacks and quickie meals with soup, this is a handy gadget to have.
Another review for these molds but that's because I bought a number of them. I've been using the fruit shaped ones for sweet fillings and the star and heart shped ones for savory fillings. They are fun to use and are easy to clean. They should last a long time as the plastic mold is quite heavy duty. And the proportion of filling to crust is fine with me. I like pies I make to be stuffed and this allows that to happen.
I really like this. It'svery easy to clean and easily held an adequate amount of fruit filling for my tastes. I have never been fond of 'pies' that were mostly crust. I like my proportions more towards to the 1/2 to 2/3 filling to the 1/2 to 1/3 crust. This achieves that. Plus it's easy to store and seems to be durable. I hope to use it for a long time.
