Product Description:
A portion of the proceeds from this item will be donated to Yum-o! to empower kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking.

The Rachael Ray Young Cooks Cutting Set includes the Tadpole with Blade Guard and a reversible, cut-resistant glove. The Tadpole handle was developed so a young hand can grip over the top of the blade for greater control. The cut-resistant glove is polyester, woven with stainless steel thread to reduce the risk of cutting injuries.

In fewer than five years, Rachael Ray has radically changed the way America cooks dinner. Her perky-girl-next-door swagger, her catchphrases for techniques, and her dinner ideology of simpler, less expensive and just in time have sold billions of books and placed her at the top of the talent heap of food television personalities.

My daughter has taken over my kitchen!

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter. She has been cooking with me for a couple years and is already pretty good with a knife. I was hoping the glove would help bolster her confidence and skill, but the fingers of the glove are too long. But she loves the knife! Just the right size and the shape of the handle fits in her hand nicely. I also got her the Rachael Ray Yum-o cookbook, a Yum-o apron and one of Emeril's kids cookbooks - all for Christmas. Now SHE'S the one cooking dinner for the family, AND teaching her 5 year old sister!

I was surprised at the quality of the knife. It cuts well. My goddaughter opened it this morning and helped me slice and chop things all day. I'd say the most difficult part about it is that she needs to develop her hand eye coordination a bit more. She is used to seeing Rachel chop on TV and it goes much faster and smoother. She chopped potatoes, shallots, green beans, garlic...........many opportunities today! We think it is fantastic!

This knife is sharp, and cuts nicely. My daughter, who is 8, makes quick work of onions and apples alike. I have small hands and prefer it to my other knives now. We've never used the glove because it's big and clumsy. The plastic protective sleeve for the knife edge is very hard to remove at first, but gets looser over time.

What our Kitchen Experts Say
If you're looking for a way for your child to spend some time cooking with mom or dad, try working with them on the kitchen floor. Spread a blanket or tablecloth on the floor and set up some kid-friendly activities like vegetable peeling or cookie shaping. Now the action is at their level, instead of an adult-sized counter, making it safer and more fun for your little kitchen helper.
