Great utensal for the temperature sensitive recipes, such as toffee, that require a high level of stirring or mixing while come up to temperature.

Chocolate Spatula Thermometer
  Would not purchase again
by Rachel (Roxbury, CT)  1 review(s) 1/14/2009
This is a great idea in theory, but the greatest flaw with this spatula thermometer was how slowly the thermometer would come to temperature. Tempering chocolate is challenging enough, but when the thermometer can't accurately read a temperature with relative speed it makes things that much more challenging.

Take the Guess Work Out of Melting Chocolate
  Would purchase again
by gail (Castaic, CA)  1 review(s) 12/10/2007
This chocolate spatula thermometer is a MUST if you temper and use chocolate regularly. If you do, you know that chocolate blooms if not heated and cooled to the proper temperature. This tool tells you when it is heated to the correct temperature and then when it is cooled to the correct temperature. The sturdy spatula portion of this tool also helps aerate the chocolate, which is one of the steps in tempering. The tool is also easy to clean, which is a plus. I wish I would have had this product years ago, but am glad to have found it now!

What our Kitchen Experts Say
Dish sponges are havens for bacteria because they thrive in warm, wet places. The only way to prevent them from forming is to have a dry sponge, so make sure never to leave a wet sponge lying in your sink; you can use a sink-side metal basket to help your sponge dry out. And to avoid cross-contamination, make sure to use a separate sponge for washing dishes and cleaning countertops.
