Product Description:
This colorful, high-carbon stainless steel santoku knife has a high-tech resin handle, detailed with miniature cutouts that depict common food objects like carrots and mushrooms. As you might guess, this knife is intended for fruits and vegetables, helping to prevent any possible transfer of bacteria from one food group to another. To complete this set, other knives in this collection are sold separately. An innovative approach in cutlery, this santoku knife has a special fluorinated-resin green coating that won't rub off when following these cleaning recommendations: handwash in warm, soapy water then completely dry by hand - never use a steel scouring brush or cleanser.

NOT THE BEST
  Would not purchase again

The quality of the blade is as expected...fantastic. The handle on the other hand is not so good. From the first time I washed the knife, moisture is trapped in the handle which I find very unsanitary. With water being trapped in the handle it had now become loose and will probable come off soon.

I use the knife to cut vegetables. Its green color makes it easy to spot. It is very sharp and compares well against more expensive knives I own and use.
Kershaw/Shun is a good company. Knife is made in Japan. I also bought the pink one made for meat cutting. Same quality with a slightly different shape.
I think these knives are an extremely good value. They are different looking. You have to get over the no wood handles and colored resin coating. I like them because they are different looking, though.

What our Kitchen Experts Say
Don't you hate it when you're trying to slice a cooked potato and your knife just smushes it instead? Try using a santoku knife instead. Its blade has specially designed hollow indentations that reduce drag when cutting, so your knife will slice right through. Santokus are also great for cutting soft cheeses, slicing onions, and just about all your everyday chopping tasks.
