Product Description:
In the color of a crusty baguette, this trusty Japanese bread knife is specially designed for cutting breads or other baked goods. It's one in the colorful Pure Komachi Series, each intended for a specific food group such as bread, fish, meat and poultry, and fruits and vegetables. By using a specific knife when working in the kitchen, the possibility of transferring bacteria from one food group to another is minimized.
Made of high-carbon stainless steel, this bread knife has a long, scalloped blade that curves almost to a point for precision when running the blade through a loaf of artisan bread. The high-tech resin handle is ergonomically designed for comfort as you cut, and is see-through with little baguette illustrations underneath. An innovative approach in cutlery, this bread knife has a special fluorinated-resin yellow coating that won't rub off when following these cleaning recommendations: handwash in warm, soapy water then completely dry by hand - never use a steel scouring brush or cleanser.

I bought all the knives in this series, this is the only one that is perfect all around. It is super sharp and thin, absolutely perfect for bread. Never tears the crumb. Works excellent on anything from the toughest baguette to tender cakes. I love it!

This knife cuts like a light saber but looks odd amongst my other knives, and the instructions warned to be careful about not scratching off the odd coating on the non-edge portion of the blade.
I'd definitely recommend it, however, and would by again.

It's a pretty good bread knife, and useful for slicing soft tomatoes, too. I'm still a little weired out by the resin coating on the blade. It should be safe, I just think the knife would be better, and less weird, without it. Good value.

What our Kitchen Experts Say
Remember never to store good bakery bread in plastic bags- it will ruin the crust. Instead, store in a paper bag at room temperature. If you don't finish it within a day or two, slice and put in the freezer for the next time you want toast for breakfast.
