To release the most flavor from certain herbs and spices you need the right tools. This handsome Mortar and Pestle is perfect for grinding herbs, spices and nuts into pastes or powders. It's just beautiful! The kind of item you would like to display in your kitchen counter. Inside it has little ridges so that it makes the job at hand easier. It has a good welght. The pestle is shiny but the end is unfinished which helps the grinding process. Together they grind any ingredient faster. I have noticed that it hasn't acquired any smell or odors from any of the foods I've put in there which is great because I can use it for all foods without the fear of having and savory flavors crossing over to the sweet ones. It came in a small box with the pestle on top. It's very easy to clean. I would recommend this to anyone especially if they are short on space.

I find it great for crushing things like juniper berries for recipes, or just bringing compacted cooking spices back to life.

What our Kitchen Experts Say
The mortar and pestle has been around for thousands of years and was originally used by pharmacists when administering medicine. It's still around today because it works so well, and you don't have to be a pharmacist to use one. It's a great kitchen staples because it does an excellent job of grinding spices or even making pesto and guacamole.
