"The perception of a wine starts with the glass." Riedel, the worlds leading wine glass company, was the first in history to recognize that the shape of the glass affects the bouquet, taste, balance and finish of wines.
The Magnum Red Wine Ouverture by Riedel is an uncomplicated, perfectly shaped, lead-free, glass that is grand in size, making them ideal for Cabernet, Merlot or Syrah. Like all others in the Riedel Collection, these, too, are crafted to enhance the specific wine for which they were created.
These are very odd, way too short of a stem for your hand to fit, not just my hands, friends' hands as well. Not comfortable.
Riedel Ouverture Magnum have been my everyday wine glass for years. IMO there is not a better all round wine glass on the planet for the money. The eight-pack from cooking.com is a great deal.
Cheap wine always tastes better in nice glasses!
These glasses not only look great but they are of great quality for the price point. When drinking a fine wine or an everyday affair they give the wine its best chance to show itself in appearance, nose and taste. I like that these glasses do not have a long stem, they are better for everyday use and for larger crowds. I used them for a blind wine tasting, I was very glad I had them.
I bought these after reading a review comparing wine in a jelly jar, a "regular" wine glass, and a good wine glass. Even if (or maybe especially if) you drink modestly priced wines, these glasses enhance the flavors and overall experience. When you consider the "pay 6 get 8" promotion, and the fact that they make a $8 cabernet taste like twice the price, they are a value.
