Fine Cooking calls this revolutionary grilling tool, "A cooking tool with a silly name and a seriously functional form." The sharp, spiral snare at the tip is cleverly designed to lightly pierce the edge of virtually any solid food for turning. A quick flip of the wrist and your food is turned to the other side. Use it for a rack of ribs, hot dogs, steaks or shrimp. It's also perfect for the kitchen as you turn bacon, baked potatoes or French toast. Never again will you have to wobble food on a spatula with this on hand! The set of two arrives in a solid wood box with brass fittings, a handsome case for storing.
Way too much money for what we got. The box is cute as heck, but have absolutely no use for it and the box had to have driven the price up. Not as impressed as we had hoped to be.
I was highly disappointed when I received the flipper. The handles on both flippers were not top qualiity. The large one had black stuff and glue over it. The small one was cracked and glued.
This was to be a Christmas gift but was ot up to the quality I expected. Thus, I had to buy another gift for this individual. In addition, there was no information provided by the manufacturer.
Handle wood a bit rough, unfinished. May absorb oils / fats. Nice quality steel. Box unnecessary since one will reside with the outdoor grill, the smaller one in the kitchen.
The box that the item came in was of poor quality. It was made of wood, rough and a poor finish. I expected much more for the price I paid. The item was delayed for several week since they were out of stock. Then when I received it, the pig tail quality ie the handle was not finished well. We haven't used it yet since it is a Christmas gift.
I ordered the 3-piece Pig Tail Food Flipper in Gift Box as a gift for Christmas, I can't honestly rate this product overall. But I was pleased with the overall appearance and so was the receiver of the gift.
As he was opening the gift, he teased one of the boys that there was a "whupping stick in this present". Thus the title for this review.
The box is cheaply made and the item appears cheaply made.
You could definately injure someone with these - the box is a nice touch, but they probably won't live in it for long.
What a suprise for my husband. He loves to BBQ and use his smoker all year round and thinks his pigtail flipper is just perfect. Best tool he never new he needed.
Bought this item for a BBQ house warming gift, and it was a smashing success. Turns out that the recipient was quite familiar with the flipper, as her father had used one for years.
Pick it up with a twist, lay it down with a twist.
About the only thing you can not use it on are soft items like Hamburgers or fish.
Veggies - great.
Steaks - perfect.
Hot dogs, Sausages, etc - you bet.
Because it is so easy and quick to turn the food, I loose less heat. Meaning I cook faster.
I purchased one for my sisters B'day and she loves it.

My dad the consumate griller was skeptical of this tool and was surprised and thrilled with how easy it was to flip food on the grill. Great gift idea!
I really like the pig tail flipper and I like that it came boxed with one for use inside the house and one for the grill. It has taken some getting use to in order to use it with ease but, was well worth taking the time to learn.
gave it for a gift - it seemed to be a good deal, will know more when they use it.
Bought one for my husband who said he like it and one for my son-in-law.
I purchased the Pig Tail flipper for my husband who does most of the grilling at our home. I tried it while cooking some steaks, and I was very surprised at how easy it was to use. I watched the video and tried the moves myself. The flipper grabbed the steaks and held on until I turned the steaks and twisted it off. Because there were 2 Pig Tail Flippers (large and small) I thought that I could use the smaller one for inside cooking. I liked the product very much.
I bought them as Christmas gifts (5 I think) and everyone who got one was very pleased with the item and thought they were a very unique item plus they worked so well with grilling meat.
These were baught as a gift, but I have a set also and love them. I haven't found anthing better when grilling chicken, ribs or really large cuts like pork butt and brisket.
The Pig Tail was bought as a gift and the person receiving it seemed pretty excited to give it a try.
These were purchased as gifts .
I bought 3 of these for presents and they have not been given yet. Saw them last year and passed themup,---decided not to do that again. Sons and son-in-laws are too hard to shop for.

For perfect criss-cross grill marks, give your fish, poultry, and meat a quarter turn on each side once it's halfway done cooking.
