This is one the best, little known items ever! I previously owned an air popper machine that took up room and didn't do anything but pop corn. This container is WONDERFUL. You can microwave anything in it, not just popcorn. It cooks things evenly and the lid has air vents. It's also easy to take off when you remove it from the microwave and you don't burn your hands from the steam. It's great, I bought some as presents too!

I had become so dissatisfied with the microwave popcorns offered at the supermarkets. They were all so ladened with salt, bad fats, artificial flavors and ingredients you can't pronounced. I wanted to take control of what went into my favorite snack food, to make it healthier, and still have a great tasting product. This popper produces a great popped kernel, big and fluffy. To 1/3 cup kernels, I drizzle a small amount of olive oil on top with also a small pat of butter. As the butter melts, its flavor is dispersed through the oil and then throughout the popcorn. I eat it right out of the bowl. It's amazing to see how such a small amount of kernels pops up to such a large amount of popcorn. Then you realize how much money was wasted on substandard packaged microwave popcorn. I highly recommend this product.

This works great. I am happy with it. All you do is put 1/2 cup of popcorn into it, no oil, put the lid on and stick it in the microwave for 3-5 mins......and voila! Done perfectly. EASY, no fat......cleanup is not even needed--I'm not kidding!

I was so excited to find this popper. Thought it would keep me on my points for my diet program. I have tried it 4 times. Twice without oil , once with oil in my microwave and then once in my neighbor's microwave thinking maybe it had to do with my machine... and it burned before being half popped all 4 times. I would never recommend this. sorry. I wish I had kept the packaging etc for a return. But I did not. so it will go into the next rummage sale.

This is great popper -- I had one and bought another one to have at our weekend home. My favorite use is to make homemade "Poppycock". I give it to friends and family as special holiday treats and they ask for it every year.

For those of us who prefer white popcorn and who have had to use the stone age method of stove top popping, this is a fantastic invention. Although there are always a good handful of kernels left unpopped, and some invariably get burned (even if you keep a good eye on it), I would still rate this highly. It's fast, you can choose whatever popcorn you like, it's easy to clean up & it's healthy!

JUST PURCHASED TWO MICROWAVE POPCORN POPPERS - WORKS GREAT - HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT AND MAKE SURE ALL THE KERNELS HAVE POPPED. TEST YOUR MICROWAVE AND MAKE SURE IT WONT BURN - THE FIRST BATCH WE HAD IN THERE ONE MINUTE TOO LONG AND SOME BURNED BUT THE REST WERE OK. I WOULD RECOMMEND FOR ALL POPCORN LOVERS.

We are very pleased with our Nordic Ware Popcorn Popper. It pops a bowl of evenly popped corn. The only negative is that the bowl is extremely hot to handle coming out of the microwave.

I had an old microwave popper that was glass and not holding up to well. I bought one for me and one for a friend. This popper is a dieter's best friend. The bowl gets a little hot, but not so much that it can't easily be removed from the microwave. If you use the correct amount of popcorn, most of the kernels do pop. I highly recommend this product.

Decent Alternative to Micro Bagged Popcorn
by NICHOLAS, MN
May 13, 2008

After burning my first batch, I found that my microwave took about 3min 40 seconds to pop just under 1/2 cup of popcorn. Its nice to have real butter on popcorn again.

The bowl gets pretty hot while cooking, so I found myself using a separate bowl for eating from (this also makes it easier to get the butter and salt evenly tossed through). I also would recommend putting a towel on top of the bowl cover while cooking, otherwise the popping action can knock the cover ajar.

All in all, it takes a couple minutes longer than the pre-bagged microwave popcorn, however, you end up with a better end product. I would purchase again.

Microwave Popcorn Popper by NordicWare

After some trial by error, we have found the popper to peform the best by using only 1/4 cup Orville Redenbocker popcorn and 2 Tablespoons of olive oil. The olive oil gives a nice flavor that doesn't even require salting the popped corn. The extra olive oil makes the corn better, leaving less unpopped kernels. Also, used the Popcorn button, with an additional Popcorn minute (not the full time), to finish the process.

The product works EXACTLY as one would wish; it's quite elegant in it's fulfillment of expectation. The only thing I find is a drawback is the design of the lid which makes it a bit hard to clean.

I followed the directions that came with the popper, and the first batch was awful - no flavor and soggy kernels. It took some trial and error to make popcorn similar to microwave popcorn that comes in bags and since then, I use the popper almost every day.

Had one several years ago and used it until I dropped it and broke it so the lid did not sit correctly. I am so happy to finally find a new one. I got one for my grandson and my brother bought one too. Love it.

We love this product - we use it with oil in the microwave instead of a pan on the stove - much easier to clean than the pan on the stove. Much better tasting popcorn than any microwave packets that can be bought.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Struggling with a rock-solid pint of ice cream? Pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds and it'll be the perfect scooping consistency. But resist the temptation to microwave it for longer- you'll just end up with, well, cream!
