Looks ok. It should work for pot roast or other tougher cuts that can be easily made accessible to cutters.

The springs are not strong enough to retract the blades on any meat over a quarter of an inch thick, needs to go back to the drawing board.

Product works very well. It is somewhat difficult to clean.
Product is probably over constructed for home use and is too pricey. Given these concerns, I would conditionally recommend the product.

I purchased the meat tenderizer recently and have used it a few times with very good results. I used it on a sirloin steak that I turned into a beef stroganoff with wonderful results--the meat was absolutly melt in your mouth tender. I would recomend this product.

Excellent at tenderizing meat, yet a little difficult to clean. I find this to be easier to use and not require the strength of a mallot type tenderizer. I will be using this several times a month.

I've used this several times on round steak and it really tenderizes the meat. This was the medium-priced tenderizer, and I feel it was an excellent investment!

I love the Jaccard Meat Tenderizer
by Olivera, IL
March 16, 2009

Ok, I admit it, I was a skeptic. I didn't believe this tenderizer could take a tough piece of meat and transform it into a tender, delicious piece of meat I would enjoy eating -- but it DID.

It couldn't be easier to use, just remove the cover and punch it through the meat. I found the more holes you make the more tender the meat is. After a few pieces of meat, you'll get the hang of it and how much you need to "Jaccard" it to get it just the way you like it.

It's easy to clean too, I put mine on the top shelf of my dishwasher. The cover comes in handy for storage and for safety.

The blades are SHARP and this is NOT a toy. This is a serious, albiet fun to use food prep tool. You'll want to keep it well out of children's reach.

I know there are other sizes out there but this one works best for me because the larger size means it's fast to use.

It helps with marinades too because the juices can actually get into the meat. YUM!

Although this item seems pricey, I expect it will last a lifetime. When I look at it that way it's not expensive at all. Also, there's a big cost savings because I can use cheaper cuts of meat that I might not otherwise buy.

I highly recommend this Jaccard Meat Tenderizer! Go with the 48 blade, you will be glad you did! Now, please excuse me, I need to go fire up the BBQ... :)

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

You'll see chicken in the supermarket labeled as broiler-fryer, roaster, or stewing. These terms describe the size, not necessarily concrete rules for their best cooking method. You can stew, fry, or roast any size of chicken, though big roaster chickens can be a little difficult to broil.
