I just purchased 2 of these for gifts, I have had mine for over 3 years and it is just as sharp today and when i first started using.
but the feature I love the best that it is self contained. changing the size (thickness) just turn the dial. Different cut - smooth or crinkle - just flip over the blade.
Everything is washable, easy to clean and stores as a complete unit.

This is not cheap, but it works very well. It is sturdy, very stable and has sharp blades. It is not small so you must have room to store it.

I bought this mandoline for my daughter who is newly wed. She makes eggplant parmesian and was having difficulty getting her slices thin and uniform. This is the perfect tool. You don't have to touch the blades to clean them (there is a handle to hold them by) and you don't have to remove them to change cuts (there is a selection knob). The operation was very smooth. Even my kitchen 'newbie' had no trouble getting nice uniform slices the first time.

Been toying with buying a steel mandoline, but have always been VERY happy with Oxo products, decided to go with this one. It is remarkably easy to use and even easier to clean up and that from one of the few people left on the planet without a dishwasher! Stores intact and is easy to hang from a hook for easy access. Great product at a great price!

Love the design of the OXO Mandoline it has great grips that help to keep the slicer in place as well as the hand grip is big which makes it easy to hold. Having the blades on a rotater is wonderful as I do not have to change out blades when cutting different items, also makes cutting quicker. Pieces are easy to clean, as they slide right out & back in.

This tool is extremely versatile. It can slice at varying levels of thickness, as well as waffle cuts, julienne, etc. The pronged holder is also very convenient.

This slicer hasn't been put away for a full day since I got it! I use it daily for any number of things and it has been very handy. I've used it for potatoes (French fries, ripple-cut cottage fries), onions, salad fixings and more. It has done a great job on everything I have tried. It's a lot more convenient than pulling out the food processor and cleaning it up again!

Outperforms the more expensive "fancy" mandolines. It is easier to use and clean but be careful those blades are super sharp.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Make your own potato chips with a slicer. You'll need one of these in order to get the potatoes thin enough. Once you have them cut, fry in peanut oil for an addictive delicious snack.
