Brown sugar: it's what makes chocolate chip cookie dough so darn addictive. But it's not much good if it gets dry, because brown sugar's moisture content (from molasses) is what makes it special. Once you've opened a box, store the remainder in an airtight container or zip-top plastic bag to keep it fresh. If you won't be using it for a while, you can also store it in the freezer in a freezer bag. And always measure brown sugar by packing it tightly into a solid measuring cup.
