Cast Iron cooking

Don't wash it. Even though the pan comes pre-seasoned, smear some lard over the inside, place it face down in the oven (on a large grease catcher), set the temperature to 250 degrees, and go away for several hours. Let the oven cool, remove the cast iron pan, and gently wipe out any remaining grease.

Being new to the world of cast iron cookware, I decided to learn by doing and bought this pan with the optimism that I would love it.......I was right! It is much safer and easier to use than a so-called "non-stick" pan. It is a new cooking tool for seasoned cook.....and speaking of seasoning, it came already to cook in. Pre-seasoning is why I bought this brand. The grill pan is great for making Paninni, too!

What can I say about cast iron, next best thing since sliced bread. What I love about this item is you can fry, grill, and then finish it off in the oven. Great pan! You can also bake in it too!

I found that even though the label says that this pan is pre-seasoned, the food still sticked. I had to season it myself, but after I did that, it has been working just great.

I used the grill pan for two chicken dishes and one fish and one turkey dish. I like the even cooking and the grill marks, this made for a very nice presentation. Clean up, well what can I say, I followed the instructions and had no problems at all. She is seasoning up nicely and ready for her next dish ;).

I love my grill pan. I can do so much with it. I love a nice grilled salad, and this pan works good for that. I would like also to know if your products are made in USA or china as this would effect if I purchase it or not in the future. I also liked the free shipping.

I am a single person and enjoy grilled foods but not the hassel of firing up the big grills. I had no problems with cooking or cleaning my grill. I wish I had this sooner in my life.

This was great for grilling steaks and burgers. We put it on top of the outdoor grill that was dirty and the steaks came out perfect. It is difficult to clean, but that is something you deal with for any cast iron product.

Cast iron prices vary so radically, but this is my second cast iron purchase from Lodge, and I really could not be happier. I've been wanting a grill pan for quite a while and finally took the plunge. Made grilled shrimp last week with this pan, and they were amazing. Perfect grill marks, and cooked up in a snap! Pan arrived in beautiful shape, ready to use. Good, solid, heavy quality. Big enough for about two fillets of fish, or two servings--this is not a huge pan, but it's a great size for everyday cooking. (I also have the two-burner reversible Lodge skillet, and recommend that too for larger batches.) Look forward to using this for years--and then giving it to my grandkids! Just really great quality, American-made to boot.

I am a huge fan of cast iron cookware. You can't fry chicken in anything else! Lodge is the best I've ever had. Others call their's pre-seasoned but I've still had to season it again and again. Not Lodge, it is ready to go. The weight is just right also. All my future cast iron purchases will be Lodge.

It is a good opinion for grilling one or two items without the fuss of going oustide to use the grill or setting up your home cooktop grill.

Too much effort, too little results

It just doesn't grill as well as it should (takes forever) and it requires too much effort to clean and then re-preserve it's surface. Sorry, just not worth the effort.

Another cast iron jewel to pass down in my family. You only have to buy these products once in your life, and with the proper care, they'll last forever.

A fairly heavy, well-designed grill pan for the top of the stove and in the oven as well. Careful but minimal care keeps this pan in good shape. Needs a longish warm-up. One of my best purchases.
