Cast iron is a multi-functional cookware that works wonders with slow-cooking recipes and all your favorite foods. Cast iron loves a campfire, a stovetop, or an oven, and can slow-cook foods without scorching. It retains heat well so you can sear meat at higher temperatures and will keep your delicious meals warm for a long time. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, theses virtually indestructible cookware should last for generations. Made of cast iron, this cookware evenly distributes heat from the bottom through the sidewalls. Sporting a stylish black color, the cast iron Skillet looks good in most kitchens and it doubles up as an excellent source of nutritional iron.

This pre-seasoned cookware is ready-to-use right out of the box. While the skillet comes pre-seasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. The Lodge seasoning procedure is a multiple-step process in which the seasoning oil is applied via an electrostatic spray system that coats the cookware, then it’s baked in commercial ovens at very high temperatures. This allows the oil to penetrate deeply into the pores of the iron. This seasoning process achieves a seasoned finish that would take many months of home use to achieve. The factory seasoning process makes Lodge cast iron products ready to use right out of the box, and the product over time “Just keeps getting better”.

After cooking, clean with a stiff nylon brush and hot water. Using soap is not recommended, and harsh detergents should never be used. Towel dry immediately and apply a light coating of oil to utensil while it is still warm. Cast Iron, like your grandmother used, still ranks as one of the best cooking utensils ever made. It gives you a nearly non-stick surface, without the possible harmful fumes generated by preheating chemically treated nonstick cookware. The American-based company, Lodge, has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century.

Cast iron Dutch Oven

By

from Toms River, NJ

Comments about this product:

I bought two because when I showed my husband what I was ordering for our daughter, his eyes 'lit up' & he said he'd love one of those. So unknown to him, I got two. They love cast iron cookware. I prefer this over the enamel coated pieces since they seem to chip easily. Both my husband & daughter have already used this at least two times. I couldn't find a piece with bigger than a 5 Qt. capacity on other sites I browsed. On top of everything, & considering how very heavy the pieces are, I paid no shipping or handling fee which made it an easy decision. I plan on adding pieces for both of them next year.

AWESOME

Comments about this product:

My mom taught me when I was a kid to always dry your cast iron cookware on the stove with fire, then wipe them out with oil while the pan is still hot- I know it says pre-seasoned but you have to keep seasoning every time you get them wet to make them better- well after the 3rd time of doing this- nothing sticks. If it comes a little rusty -no worries just wash and season the rust will disappear- that's what cast iron does. Gotta love the price compared to other dutch ovens too!!!- lid fits tight and does have the dripper nubs to keep your food basted- try meatloaf in this pot- its great!!

7 qt. Lodge Dutch Oven

By

from Winnetka, CA

Comments about this product:

We bought this Dutch Oven to use as a fryer for fish and chicken. We have used several Lodge iron frying pans in the past with excellent results but the Dutch Oven just makes the frying process much less prone to splatter oil. The Lodge Dutch Oven came pre-seasoned with excellent construction (no sharp corners or uneven interior cooking surface), and the lid fits tight. The 7 qt. size also allows you to add and remove the chicken or fish easily. It makes the frying process quick and easy with no mess. The oven heats up evenly and cleans up easily. I plan on getting the frying basket they make for this model. Also Lodge is made in the USA, which is a plus for me since iron fry pans I have used from China have been of poor construction. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys fry cooking.
