Laser Infrared Surface Thermometer by Maverick

I received this item as a gift and am fairly pleased with it for what it does. My family assumed it worked like a regular meat thermometer and could take internal temperatures- that is not what it does however. It takes the temperature of surfaces- so hot frying pans and the like. It does do that very accurately however, its very sensitive and will change temperatures if you move it even slightly to a new spot. The price is a bit high given the limited utility of the tool- however we are overall pleased with this purchase.

We find this very useful. Helps avoid too hot/too cold pans.

I bought this product as a gift to my husband. He loves it! He checks the pan temperature before cooking anything now. I (the main cook of the house) like this product also, thought not at the same level as my husband. I could do away with my stick thermometer just fine. A negative note, you can not use this laser thermometer to check the temperature of the inner core of whatever you are cooking, something that is important when baking bread. It's only able to check the outer surface temperature. A positive note, the red laser pointer can be used to amuse your dogs to no end, that is if you have dogs.

My dad loves it for his grill!

This is very hard to use and the directions are not included. It just said to "point" it.
