not worth the price

I have sensitive hands and have often felt burning sensations when using oven mitts to remove hot items from the oven. I decided to spend the extra money on a great set of oven mitts in order to save my hands from future pain. After reading other reviews, I decided to spend approximately $50 on a set of Kool-tek oven mitts. Sadly, they were not worth the money. Though better than some, these overn mitts were NOT worth the price. I could still feel the heat through the mitts.

The mitt was too bulky to easily grip cookie sheets, etc from the oven.

Good product, but to hold heavy pan, etc you really need 2 mitts!

Pretty bulky and difficult to handle in the kitchen. The glove ends up getting into your food.

Red Kool-Tek Oven Mitt by KatchAll

It really didn't keep the heat away from my hand any more than any other less expensive mitt.

My hand got uncomfortably warm while getting a pizza out of the oven.

Very good at keeping your hands cool but not as flexible as I would like. This makes grasping handles awkward. I am hoping that as I use them they will become less stiff.

Expensive and not worth it

This very expensive mitt does not work better than the All-Clad or Calphalon oven mitts. Your hands still feel uncomfortably hot heat from cookie sheets when removing cookies. A big disappointment. (Note: this is not made by KatchAll, the mitt recommended by CooksIllustrated.)

Had high expectations

I bought this because it was recommended by America's Test Kitchen as the most heat resistant mitt that was also flexible and easy-to-use.

It seems to be a fine oven mitt, but is not so amazingly flexible for my small hands to use that it was worth the very high price. Hopefully it will at least last longer than the cheap mitts that I usually buy.

The gloves protect my hands from heat but they don't fit well. Maybe they're made for very small hands? The thumb area is not deep enough to allow a good grip of the hot dishes coming out of the oven. They're also a little expensive for my taste.

Great for big hands

The quality is first rate but they are expensive. My husband loves them, he uses them for everything from BBQ to putting heavy cast ironware into/out of the oven. I have average sized hands and find them way too big, they slide around so roomily that they are cumbersome. If there was a smaller version I'd buy another pair right away.

Very Good Finish Quality but Pricey

I have had my old ratty oven mitts for years and after one too many burns decided to upgrade. I got these after seeing a review by Cook's Illustrated.

I am hoping these will last a long time as they were very expensive. So far I don't see much difference in heat tolerance than the regular oven mitts.

Hopefully they will last longer as the construction seems to be of better quality than normal cloth oven mitts.

Very pleased with this product. The only reason I didn't give it a 5-rating is because I would have preferred the longer 15" version.

THE HEAT RESISTANT QUALITIES ARE GOOD BUT I WOULD
PREFER A MIT WITH SEPARATE FINGER SLOTS LIKE A GLOVE

I have use the Kool-tek mitt for a couple of weeks. I like them for mitts they are flexible with a good feel on hot handles. Not bad on cookie sheets but I will get oven gloves for even better control. They are worth the money in my book!

Mitt for a man-

Happy with the purchase. My only contention is that the mitt is a bit too large. I even have long fingers for a woman and it feels enormous on my hand. It is almost double the size of my old mitt.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

If you're basting your meat with sugary sauces (like most barbecue sauces), do it at the very end of the cooking process, so the meat has a chance to cook through before the sugars in the sauce burn.
