Not great, but a good value for the price

You should not expect excellent quality from flatware that is so inexpensive, but the quality was still a bit lower than what I was expecting. If you want some inexpensive flatware, I would recommend this set, but otherwise I would not. I only purchased it because the last set of flatware I purchased was horribly stained within days, possibly due to the hard water we had, and I did not want to take the chance of ruining another expensive set. This set has not had the same problem, but that might be because we have soft water now.

The main problem with the flatware is that the plastic and metal parts of the handle are not always lined up properly, so you can feel the edge where one of the surfaces extends past the others when you hold it. I strongly recommend getting a flatware set that is either completely metal or has plastic handles that completely surround the metal. I recommend this even if it is an expensive and/or high quality set. Also, the fewer joints, the better because there are fewer possibilities for problems with how it is put together and it is less likely to break, all other things being equal. In addition, a smooth surface does not trap dirt like a joint does and it is easier to clean.

I bought the flatware set as a Christmas gift for my Mom, who recently redecorated her kitchen. She wanted red flatware but I had a difficult time finding anything at the stores. I searched online and found cooking.com. The flatware set I ordered arrived in time for the holiday and was beautifully wrapped. My Mom was thrilled with the color, as it matched perfectly with the kitchen aid teakettle I also ordered. The flatware has a nice feel to it and didn't look flimsy or cheap. I've been disappointed with certain products I've bought online, but that certainly was not the case here. I will definitely order from cooking.com in the future.

Thank you.

This flatware is great!

I'm so pleased with my purchase of this flatware. It's well made, and the feel and weight of the pieces in your hand is most satisfactory. It does very well in the dishwasher. And best of all - the red color is perfect. My kitchen and china are all red, black, and white, and I was afraid the color would be an orangey-red that just wouldn't have worked. But the color is a true red and just beautiful. One more thing: the knives are very, very sharp, so you have to watch the way you handle them.

Simple but Nice

We owned a set of European flatware for years and finally, because of the kids losing multiple pieces and it just wearing out over time, we decided to buy another everyday-use set. We do like this flatware because 1)we had a nice color variety from which to choose 2)it seems durably put together 3)the construction is such that the handles are riveted on/through the one-piece solid stainless shank, which makes each piece sturdy and not apt to coming apart as with flatware, where the shank is inserted and glued into the handle.

Also, it seems the chromed steel or stainless ends of the handles are durable enough to stand up to prolonged use and dishwashing, which is great compared to cheaper

Again, this was a surprise gift for my daughter. With 5 children, flatware often gets mislaid or lost. It was a perfect gift to go along with the white dinner ware.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

When planning hors d'oeuvres to serve at a cocktail party, keep your guests in mind. If they'll be mostly standing during the party, then make sure the food can be eaten with a drink in one hand and a plate or napkin in the other.
