Great knife. Slices wonderfully Yes the handle is plastic, but the blade is outstanding.
Absolutely love this knife
I am a Formally trained Chef of 33 years and have used Wusthof exclusively all of my cooking life. I collect Classic, Ikon and Grand Prix 1 & 2. This latest 8 inch Chef's knife is a Grand Prix II. I mentor a lot of Chef students in culinary school and foodies just trying to be better cooks. I feel the Grand Prix line is best for budding Chefs as it is more of a comfort to handle, has less of a tendency to slip and conforms ergonomically overall to the users hand. Like all the other Wusthofs, it is extremely well balanced. However, new Chefs find the Grand Prix line less intimidating to handle while honing their craft and getting used to knives in general. I agree with this and that is why when instructing, I always start new students (even my own kids) on the Grand Prix series.

This is a phenomenal product and I can assure you that you will be very happy with this and any of Wusthofs products.

John
Union Grove, WI
This is the first time I bought an expensive, and very sharp, knife. I can not believe how easily it chopped vegetables, sliced through bread, etc. I thought the size and shape of the knife might be awkward but it was not. It felt very comfortable in my hand when using it. Now, all I have to do is get used to using a very sharp knife. (Yes, I managed to nick myself the first time I used it!) I would not mind having more of these knives though!
I love my new big sharp Chef's knife. Whenever I need to cut or slice something really thin, like tomatoes, or lemons, I look forward to using it. I also use it for cutting meat and it's huge help as it slices very easily and helps me a lot. I have enormous respect for it as it is so sharp and we get along fine. It makes me feel 'classy' !. It also sharpens very easily and comes out even better than before. This morning I used it to cut the crusts off my daughter's sandwich for her lunch and it was like a helpful friend, doing the job quickly and beautifully.
Thanks.
If you haven't invested in a quality kitchen knife, you most definitely should, and this knife is a great one to start with. It's very sharp, and the ergodynamic handle makes it easy to use. It may seem a bit pricey if you've been used to using generic knives, but it is definitely worth the cost. It's the one kitchen tool I simply could not do without!
I splurged on this knife and have not regretted it! Now I rarely use any other knife.
He seems pleased with the quality, size and heft. etc. He has several Wusthoff knives and didn't have this size chef's knife.
I have many knives in my collection, but this one is the best! It's size, grip and substantial knife blade make cutting almost anything, including pomegranates, a breeze.
I bought this knife for my husband for Christmas. He was always complaining about not having a good sharp knife. He has used it and says "this is how a knife should cut." We liked it so well we went out and purchased the 6" carving knife.
Wonderful knife with a beautifully honed edge. The knife has good weight and is comfortable to hold. Makes chopping onions a pleasure instead of a chore.
This knife replaces one that was stolen in my kitchen at work. Wusthof knives are the best!

Here's a trick to remember the next time you're cooking with something leafy like cilantro: to quickly separate the leaves from the stems, hold the stems in one hand and shave the leaves off with a super-sharp chef's knife.
