If you don't already own an 8-in. chef's knife, this one should be your first choice. An essential among professionals, it cuts through meats, poultry, large vegetables and fruits and so much more, you'll wonder how you managed without one before. It's also the perfect upgrade from a lesser quality, once you've become confident of your knife skills. Each Grand Prix II knife is precision forged of a single blank of high carbon stainless steel, skillfully honed by hand twice. The perfectly balanced tool features a full tang construction with molded handles that are slip resistant and completely hygienic. An update to the original line, the Wusthof Grand Prix II knives offer more ergonomically designed handles combined with the high quality and contemporary good looks chef's desire.
I splurged on this knife and have not regretted it! Now I rarely use any other knife.
If you haven't invested in a quality kitchen knife, you most definitely should, and this knife is a great one to start with. It's very sharp, and the ergodynamic handle makes it easy to use. It may seem a bit pricey if you've been used to using generic knives, but it is definitely worth the cost. It's the one kitchen tool I simply could not do without!
I have many knives in my collection, but this one is the best! It's size, grip and substantial knife blade make cutting almost anything, including pomegranates, a breeze.
He seems pleased with the quality, size and heft. etc. He has several Wusthoff knives and didn't have this size chef's knife.

Here's a trick to remember the next time you're cooking with something leafy like cilantro: to quickly separate the leaves from the stems, hold the stems in one hand and shave the leaves off with a super-sharp chef's knife.
