Top notch spinner

Had a plastic version of this spinner for years. Like the heaviness of the bowl. Hint, start the pumping action very gradual and gentle. Work you way up to spinning speed. The mechanism will last for years!!

Great bowl, but the rest is a bit lacking

I recently broke (i.e., dropped and shattered) my salad spinner after using it for well over 10 years. The ripcord never broke, the spinner was super easy to clean, and the performance was excellent. After using this new spinner only a few times, the basket is cracking. Furthermore, the two-part lid is flimsy and bulky, the "brake" hardly works, and the performance is subpar. The bowl itself is fantastic, though: sturdy, easy to clean, and stays put on the counter. Despite this, I'm already looking for a replacement.

If it was a little larger I would of given it a 5. Still a good buy.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Buying whole lettuce heads lets you choose what's in your salad. Toss chopped lettuce leaves into a large bowl of water, then lift them out to leave the grit behind. Use a salad spinner to remove the excess water for a crisp and crunchy salad.
