The mashed potatoes I made with this wonderful contraption were simply fantastic. I have always used my mixer. I have definitely been using the wrong utensil. Awesome. I love it. I will try my hand at some homemade split pea soup next.
I have used the food mill once. Loved it. The potatoes turned out very fluffy.
This product is wonderful. It's so easy to use and to clean. I especially like the different discs for different textures. For years I've used a food strainer with a wooden pestle to make applesauce and tomato sauce, but this is much easier.
I've only tried this product once for ricing mashed potatoes and I had problems. The product is very easy to put together but when trying to rice my boiled potatoes hardly and potatoes got riced without it clogging or coming apart. I had a much cheaper ricer that worked much better. I wish I still had the old one.
II have had a lot of food mill's over my years, and this one by far is the very best.
I bought this food mill as the reviews were pretty good, it was dishwasher safe (top rack) and is a metal bowl with metal parts. Some of the reviewes on less expensive items were that the plastic melted with items that were too hot and that concerned me so I bought this one. I can say that it does handle hot food and cleans up super easy. I have been using it to get the moisture out of fresh cooked pumpkin for pie and pasta makign and could not believe how well it worked. I have also used it to make apple sauce and no longer have to grind the apples down by hand. My only regret is that I didn't make this purchase sooner!
works great!
I have not use this product yet but I order it because it had everything I was looking for. Especially the fact that it was STAINLESS STEEL. My old one was rusty and won't use anything rusty. Very pleased with my purchase and the service. Would highly recommened this product to everyone.
I am very pleased with the quality of this Food Mill. It works perfectly! I especially like the handle on it. Keep listing quality utensils
We this mill for mashed potatoes and it does a great job! I like the fold down legs that rest on top of a pot. We drain the potatoes in a colander and then place the mill on top of the pot (it still is hot) and then put the potatoes in the mill for processing. With a little hot cream, sourcream, cream cheese or the like, you get outstanding mashed potatoes!!!
I like the OXO food mill for ease of use and cleaning. I use my mill mainly for seeding tomatoes and this really works well. I had a plastic food mill before and I couldn't get the stains out. I love the fact that this one is dishwasher safe.
My only complaint is that it seems to take a long time to get the food through the mill; like it isn't tight enough to the plate.
I work in a restuarant and have developed arthritis in my thumbs. I would love to develop kitchen utensils etc for the people in my age bracket that find themselves productive people in the work force but physically aging. The product I ordered a food mill was the answer to a task I found increasingly more painful to do because of my thumbs. We make homemade tomato soup and former employees were pushing the mixture through a sieve with a ladle. This was becoming almost impossible for me because of the pain and lack of mobility in my thumbs. If you make a model that is twice as big in circumference that would be even better. Thank you. Oh, if you know of a can opener that opens large cans that would be great too.
I bought this for canning this spring so I haven't used it yet but it's nice, reasonably heavy stainless steel. The pieces fit together nicely and operate smoothly. Like most OXO - good quality product
would buy another one
I have had this food mill for years and the one just purchased was for my daughter for Christmas. I don'tknow how one can function without one in the kitchen.
I used this product based on reading the recommendation to use a food mill, in Ina Garten's cookbooks. The first test for this mill was mashed potatoes - and the result was easy, creamy mashed potatoes - the best I've ever made.
The mil comes with three blades - easy to change and set up. The base has three legs, helping to stabilize the mill when in use. Reversing the handle helps to redirect the item(s) being milled, to let you get every drop without scraping with a spoon. Easy cleanup as well. For those cooks with dexterity issues, the mill is easy to turn; no squeezing or gripping required. This mill should be easier for those who have dexterity issues to use this product (than handheld ricers). Can't wait to use this product again - soon!
This product is great. I recommend it to anyone. It is easy to use with no fuss.
Easy to use Handles well. Clean up is easy. So far I only used it for the tomatoes from the garden. Can't wait to try out on other uses.
This kitchen appliance is a must in the kitchen.
It is extremely easy to use and clean.
I use my food mill for removing the seeds from cooked tomatoes, removing pulp or larger pieces from fruits and other vegetable for creating jellies and jams. It is wonderful for making mashed potatoes or spätzle. When my boys were younger I used it to make baby food. It was a great way to prepare my own baby food by using the food mill to puree my own food. I knew exactly what my babies were eating...cheaper too.
This little food mill come with three interchangeable blades for differing textures. The feet extend so latching on to a bowl/pot is very easy. The crank is easy to turn. This is a little workhorse for the price and I love it.
