Good Eats 2: The Middle Years picks up where the bestselling Good Eats: The Early Years left off. Showcasing everything Alton Brown fans (and they are legion!) have ever wanted to know about his award-winning television show, The Middle Years is chock-full of behind-the-scenes photographs and trivia, science-of-food information, cooking tips, and--of course--recipes.
Brown’s particular genius lies in teaching the chemistry of cooking with levity and exuberance. In episodes such as “Fit to Be Tied” (meat roulades), “Crustacean Nation” (crab), and “Ill-Gotten Grains” (wheat products), Brown explains everything from how to make the perfect omelet to how to stuff your own sausages. With hundreds of entertaining photographs, along with Brown’s inimitable line drawings and signature witty writing, this comprehensive companion book conveys the same wildly creative spirit as the show itself.
I'm giving this as a gift - rec'd the book very fast - and glancing through it looks like there is alot of good information in there - I'm sure he will enjoy this book.
The recipies look so good I can hardly wait to sample all of them. It will take a long time cause there are plenty in this book.
I adore Alton Brown and love love love his show...the book however is disconnected and as an organized person I have trouble following it and the layout. I enjoyed his book on which items to invest in but not so much on the cookbook.
My daughter has requested this for a Christmas gift because she just loves Alton Brown! I know she will love this beautiful hardcover book and the free DVD was a great added bonus! Free shipping was also an added plus. Best price ever! Thanks loads! Lucy from Rochester, NY
My husband loves his cookbooks. He has the 1st one (I'm just here for the food) and it's his favorite cookbook. He will travel with it if he knows he'll be cooking. It's a must have cookbook.
had to answer the questions to get you the message. You have preceeded the delivery of this item.
I purchased this as a Christmas present for one of my sons. Anything carrying Alton's name is expected to be the best. I have purchased his books in the past and all of them, including this one, are excellent values. I am a faithful fan myself. If I purchase from the Food Network Store I know I will get a quality product. Thank you
The Book is great, but mine was missing the DVD that is supposed to be included. I have yet to hear back from the company as to whether or not they will send me a DVD to compensate for the missing one.
I Love Alton's show by the same name and now that I have this book I am enjoying it very much. I may give one as a gift for x-mas.
I love Alton Brown and the book is one you just don't look at the recipes, you also get the stories. I have it on my coffee table and everyone who comes in sits and reads it too. Thanks Alton. A Ryan, Fulton, MO
Bought as a gift for a friend..It was a perfect hit!
This book reads just as though you are watching Alton Brown in his blended impersonation of Bill Nye the Science Guy and Julia Childs. I thoroughly enjoy the books and the cooking series, and congratulate AB for his understanding that humour helps set the lesson more firmly in mind than being lectured to ever could. I also appreciate the knowledge concentrates and the behind-the-scenes anecdotes and pictures. My only fear is that when the last book comes out next year (?) that we will be hearing that AB will no longer be doing "Good Eats", which would break my heart.
Very fun reading, interesting tips, not the typical cookbook. Not easy to find a recipe for a specific items because names are fun, not necessarily descriptive, but great recipes when trying to find something interesting and fun.
This book is a great sequel to the 1st volume. While it is not a true "cook book" per se, it is a great way to learn more about the why we cook our food the way we do, and has handy tips, tricks, and behind the scenes information from your favorite Good Eats shows.
This book is for die-hard fans of Good Eats and Alton Brown. If you're considering buying it, you are one. Plunk down the cash and enjoy.
The book was just as advertised--signed book- plate and all. Every recipe I tried came out great.
Reading his books is like having him in your kitchen talking you through recipes. I enjoyed his "Good Eats" and am enjoying 2 even more.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first Good Eats cookbook and now I'm not let down by the second edition. Being an avid Alton Browne fan it is great to have a couple of books to treasure from him.
This book is not just a cookbook. True to Alton Brown, it has facts about food, fun tips and great recipes. It is fun to browse through, and makes you want to cook more. Thanks. Mary Hogan
For the "Good Eats" fan this is a good book with lots of typical Alton "comments" accompanying each recipe!
