Born in Rome, Giada De Laurentiis developed her love of cooking while growing up in a large Italian family, spending time in the family kitchen and at her grandfather’s restaurant, DDL Foodshow. After graduating from UCLA, she began her professional culinary training at the Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, and subsequently returned to LA, where her training included positions at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Fine Dining Room and Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in Beverly Hills. Giada later founded a catering company, GDL Food. She was discovered in 2002 by a network executive upon reading an article about her and the De Laurentiis family in Food & Wine magazine.

Her first show, Everyday Italian, brought viewers her quick, healthy and satisfying recipes. Rooted in the authentic flavors and techniques of Italy, yet infused with the bright, clean, seasonal flavors of California, Giada’s fresh style of cooking has earned her a loyal fan base. Giada’s Weekend Getaways, Giada’s first primetime show, followed Giada to popular destinations in and around the U. S. as she explored the cities’ most notable restaurants and activities.
