An innovation in ceramics technology, Emile Henry's 4.2-qt. Flame Top Casserole works directly on a gas flame or an electric or halogen hob without a diffuser and without fear of cracking or breaking. Extremely durable and versatile, it can also be used in the broiler or oven and transported directly to the table, refrigerator, or freezer. Much lighter than many comparable metal cookware products, it cleans up easily and is both microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Plus, cooking in ceramic is still the best way to preserve the flavors and nuritional qualities in food, as well as develop the aromas. The convenient lid features small bumps on its underside that favor the condensation process and return important vapors back into the food.

I use this big one mostly for making a ton of rice in the microwave... This is the best yet I've used in microwave, and keeps the food WARM long after you remove the casserole from the microwave, so the food doesn't get cold while you are nuking something else... :) Definitely worth the money...
I like this pot a lot. I love the fact I can use it on the stove top and the go to the fridge or oven. The only negatives are the lid does not seal well and the dark color of the inside makes it a little hard to judge the depth of liqued and the color of seared meats. Still all in all well worth the price.
I bought this Emile Henry Stewpot for my son-in-law. He has always remarked on my red Emile Henry rice cooker which I just love. I searched the Internet to try and find another one like it, but do not find it available anywhere. So, I bought this one instead. He is overjoyed and wondered how I knew he had been researching these. He is especially happy with the fig color - His name is Figlo too! I'm looking forward to sharing a meal cooked in this pot!

By the way, I would like to know if I can get the rice cooker any more.

Thank you,
Felice Willat
I originally purchased this casserole to bake bread in, however there are multiple uses for this pot. Great size for endless dishes. I love the fact that it is much lighter than cast iron but seems to have similar durability. Best price I found on the internet, great customer service, and exactly the color I wanted (black). Thanks cooking.com !!
I haven't actually used the product yet but it is exactly as advertised and it arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Can't wait to try it but I just haven't had the time!

Casseroles have endless possibilities for variation. They're also excellent for using ingredients you have leftover from previous meals. For example, use the leftover meat from a Sunday roast and turn it into Monday's casserole- economical and oh so easy.
