An innovation in ceramics technology, Emile Henry's 4.2-qt. Flame Top Casserole works directly on a gas flame or an electric or halogen hob without a diffuser and without fear of cracking or breaking. Extremely durable and versatile, it can also be used in the broiler or oven and transported directly to the table, refrigerator, or freezer. Much lighter than many comparable metal cookware products, it cleans up easily and is both microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Plus, cooking in ceramic is still the best way to preserve the flavors and nuritional qualities in food, as well as develop the aromas. The convenient lid features small bumps on its underside that favor the condensation process and return important vapors back into the food.

Not what it used to be
by Jusitne, NH

I am the owner of several (20 +) Emile Henry baking pieces and bowls. I have always enjoyed and appreciated the value of each item. This has changed since the purchase and subsequent return of the 4.2 covered casserole. I saw this item in a shop, but it was red; I wanted fig. The item I received was fig, but the glaze finish was second quality. There were even small, but noticeable spots with missing glaze. This is not what I had come to expect from Emile Henry. This fault is Emile Henry, not Cooking.com. As side note, I wrote to Emile Henry and got a form letter back with a thank you for my purchase and how happy they were. Nothing addressing their lack of quality control. Too bad. I guess it's just a sign of the times...

Gorgeous

Very pretty - wish the discription came with hight and width measurements because it is too big for my inverter.

The absolute best
by Leah, MD

Emile Henry is the best product around. It goes in microwave, on stove, in oven, in dishwasher. I love it! My only disappointment is that I could not get it in red.

Perfect for baking no-knead bread---
by Janet, AL

---which is the main reason I purchased this casserole. I have other Emile Henry products, and have always been pleased with the quality of construction and the beautiful colors. Good price at Cooking.com with a coupon.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Casseroles have endless possibilities for variation. They're also excellent for using ingredients you have leftover from previous meals. For example, use the leftover meat from a Sunday roast and turn it into Monday's casserole- economical and oh so easy.
