Alton's salt server
by Eva, VA
July 17, 2009

Have always liked the look of this salt server and wondered where I could get one so was very excited to see them for sale. Got one for each of my daughters and myself. We are all fans of Alton Brown and his programing. (I really like the Feasting on Asphalt series). Anyway, the servers came through beautifully. I forwarded the two to my girls and even with repacking there was not problem. I love the look and the usefulness. My one daughter is in 29 Palms and when she took her's out of the mailbox it was so hot she burned herself getting it out of the box but the server was not affected in any way. Thanks so much.

Handy Salt

I have watched Alton Brown use one of these for years and finally decided to get one for myself. It is great... it keeps my salt handy, but also clean! I was using just a small custard cup on the stove, but food would get into it and make it unusable, but now I don't have to worry. The little spoon was not really much use, but looks cute with it. I really am very pleased with my purchase.

I am very pleased with my (Kosher Salt)container, my husband and I watch the Foodnetwork with Alton Brown all the time. One night my husband saw this container and said he'd like to have one because it was handy and made of stainless steel. So I went online and ordered it hassle free and received it is just a few days.....we love it, made of good quailty and I would and will recommend this product to any and everyone!!! Keep up the good work!!

Purchased a very nice coarse salt server. Happy with the product. Freight and handling charges were excessive for so small an item.

I purchased this for my husband to use outside in our grill area because of the cover. The salt server works well in all types of weather and we can channel our internal Alton Brown by using it.

It is exactly what I wanted. I did, however expect the spoon to be larger.

Fresh and Handy

I already had a dish I purchased at a garage sale that worked for my salt. the problem was that since it was really a relish bowl it does not have a sealing lid and the salt would get lumpy. I always admired the one Alton Brown uses and am thrilled to have one of my own. Your website also has another similar one on another page for a couple dollars less, but that one does not mention a silicone seal so I did not take a chance.

Great little bowl
by Allan, NC
September 27, 2009

This is a very useful product. It sits nicely between the pepper mill and oil next to the stove. The spoon it comes with is a bit on the small side, but it makes a great server for the fancy salt at the table. I love the rubber grommet that is inside the lid. I live in the south and the humidity tends to clump salt, but this beauty has taken care of that problem. If you cook or barbeque a lot I recommend this server.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

The main difference between salts is in their texture. Table salt's fine grain dissolves quickly and therefore is the preferred salt when baking. Sea and kosher salt's larger, irregular grain if sprinkled on food at the last minute adds a delightful crunch and hit of briny flavor as it dissolves on the tongue. Generally, accomplished cooks prefer kosher salt when cooking, since its coarse texture is easier "to take a pinch of" when seasoning savory dishes.
