We always wanted a salt cellar like Alton Brown but could never find one in stores. This
It is very handy to have, before I purchased this I was keeping my salt in a plastic container with a lid. This I can keep out all the time and the seal keeps moisture out.
Very functional item to have in the kitchen, I am considering buying a few more for other commonly used spices.
This is just like the one that Alton Brown uses on his show and my husband was very happy with it
This item is fantastic. I love this item with the flip top, which I like alot better than the wooden box I was using with a slide top.

The main difference between salts is in their texture. Table salt's fine grain dissolves quickly and therefore is the preferred salt when baking. Sea and kosher salt's larger, irregular grain if sprinkled on food at the last minute adds a delightful crunch and hit of briny flavor as it dissolves on the tongue. Generally, accomplished cooks prefer kosher salt when cooking, since its coarse texture is easier "to take a pinch of" when seasoning savory dishes.
