Disappointed
by Sandra, TN
March 29, 2008

In memory of my mother 'ricing' potatoes when I was very young, I ordered the Ricer. I found that (1) I did not have the strength to make it work and (2) the 'ricing' size was larger than I expected, which was disappointing. I will try it again, however, with peeled potatoes as I believe that may make it easier.

Except for being a little too big for a petite woman to operate, the ricer is well made and meets expectations.

cost of product?

When you review the product information because it is called "jumbo" you assume it is big. To my surprise it holds no more than 2 cups of potatoes at a time. The product works well and you get a excellent result but it is not JUMBO. It takes a lot of time to rice 5lb. of potatoes. I am not happy paying that much for something so small.

This is a heavy duty ricer. Good size for a family. Great for squeezing the water out of home made hash browns before you cook them.

Quality Product

This ricer is well built. The jumbo size handles a large load of potatoes with ease, and the handles are comfortable to use. My family raves about the creamy mashed potatoes. My husband loves it so much that he's willing to give up the mixer! It also does a great job squeezing frozen spinach.

Both my husband & I grew up in households that did not use a ricer, and we did some research before we purchased this one. We have been delighted with it and recommend it highly. It is now a staple in our kitchen.

I so want to love this!

The quality is fantastic. However, I have only used it twice and it was difficult. I tried to put cooked turnips in it, it wouldn't work as it required too much pressure. Next, I tried putting in cooked potatoes with the skin on, and I could only press one layer at a time as it required muscle power because of the skins, but the end result sure was nice mashed potatoes. My next experiment will be potatoes without the skin to see if that would justify my keeping it due to the expense. Another reviewer mentioned apples for sauce, so I would like to try that, too.

Potato Ricer

December 27, 2009

This is a larger Ricer than what my Mom had. It works beautifully as long as you don't overload it. It is wonderful to have 'smooth' and creamy potatoes again. It is easy to clean and I'd purchase it again or give it as a gift.

The ricer makes awesome mashed potatoes. My only complaint is that I would like to be able to buy a larger one since I have a large family and need to rice a large amount of potatoes.

I've only used this twice since I received it, but what a difference in my mashed potatoes. It is well built and you won't squeeze the handle in to! This is a top notch product.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT. IT IS A HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE AND MUCH EASIER TO USE THAN MASHING POTATOES BY HAND WHEN I AM MAKING GNOCCI. WOULD RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT TO OTHERS.

This potato ricer is perfect, even the big potatoes fit. I like the fact that I no longer have to cut up potato to make them fit. I just load the potatoe in the potato ricer and its easy as 123 the potato comes out nice and fluffy.

I think this product is excellent. It is expensive, but I've had much less expensive ones that rust with time and aare not as well made.

New way to fix mashed potato's
by Ronald, LA
January 12, 2011

No more mashing or using a mixer to fix mashed potato's. Who would have thought that using a potato ricer would turn out such great mashed potato's...but since I have started using my potato ricer it has made my cooking experience that much more easier and enjoyable to do.

Worked great to make applesauce. I was disappointed with the quality of the mashed potatoes. I was hoping to be able to fill the ricer with more food than I was able too. When I filled it to its capacity, it was very difficult for me to squeeze the levers together.
