Nothing like having the fluffiest mashed potatoes on your dinner plate and ricing potatoes is the only way to go. I originally purchased the smaller potato ricer which I loved. I had been looking for one for a long time. My Mother had always used a potato ricer but as time goes by some of these "old" kitchen assets go by the wayside. I love them. Thank you for having a bigger one. I would recommend potato ricers to everyone who loves their mashed potatoes very fluffy. Thank you!!
First of all, you aren't supposed to put an entire six inch long boiled potato into the ricer unless you are an NBA Center with hands the size of planks. I read through the reviews before buying this and people were complaining about the need for hand strength. Just cut through the big ones and don't over fill the basket and you will be fine.
Just lay the potato ricer across the top of your pot -- it fits right in because there is a groove on the front that snicks into the edge of the pot. Just put in the potato and press down on the top handle.
The device works as advertised and cleans up nice in the dishwasher. You will need to use a large drawer for storage!
The ricer gives your mashed potatoes a fantastic texture. Use Yukon Golds to give it a more
This ricer is well made, large and works very well. Potatoes are smooth after going through the ricer.............easy to use, quickly ricing 5 lbs of potatoes! Buy this, don't go cheap............it's worth the $$.
I have used other potato ricers and this one is the best of all that I have used. It is very user friendly. Others the handles make your hands very sore as they don't all have the savers on the ends and it isn't as messy ricing as some I have used. You spend more time with some picking out potatoes that fall out or squeeze thru the top when you need to add more food to rice. Betty Crocker has always been a good name and one you can trust. They were very prompt at getting the order shipped and arriving on schedule. I have already recommended you to my friends.
I've used other ricers. this is the best. It sits on top of your pot so you can get great leveage on the handles and process the potatoes without much hand strength. Because of it's large basket I can process about 5lbs of boiled potatoes in 3 or 4 ricer loads. Really much faster than a smaller ricer, especially when cooking for a group!
I was concerned about the fact that the output holes are much larger than the previous ricer I owned. Not to worry, it breaks up the potato just right and allows a smooth, creamy texture.
It also cleans really easily, and DOESN'T come apart into pieces, so you don't have to worry about loosing hinge pins or other parts.
I highly recommend this device, and gave away my old one!
GREAT PRODUCT
Five Stars!!! Love it. Had another ricer for over 40 years. When it broke, I must have gone through 6 others ricers which bent out of shape under normal use. This Jumbo Potato Ricer is extremely sturdy, yet not heavy, with great handles for ease of use. Besides potatoes, I use it to squeeze canned tuna/salmon juices out. Just keep it clean and it will last another 50 years!!!
I purchased the Jumbo Potato Ricer a couple weeks prior to Thanksgiving. I used it on the sweet potatoes for my sweet potato casserole. The casserole was by far the best one I have ever baked. The potatoes were light and fluffy. I can't wait to used for my mashed potatoes. Also, this product is so well made that it should last me for years.
Like the large capacity, though that can make for a need for more muscle power. Recommend that you peel potatoes (veggies) prior to ricing as skins block holes and make the compression more difficult. Great, solid product.
MrSteve.
REALLY BIG!!! MUCH LESS TIME CONSUMING.
when making potato sald for a large group, this is the best ricer for saving time and ensuring a wonderful consistency for the potatoes...also works great on cauliflower for "lo-carb" caulifower salad
I have used a number of ricers and the problem I encountered was multiple pieces for each unit. I tried to keep the pieces together but never fully succeeded. The RSVP ricer solves that problem and it works better than advertised.
Good thing my son-in-law was in the house when I tried to mash potatoes. Neither my daughter or myself had the hand strength to operate this. Either we were doing something totally wrong or there was a problem with the ricer. No directions included and it seems simple enough to understand. Back to a plain old potato masher for me.
Okay, I know it's for potatoes & it's wonderful...but we eat more guacamole than potatoes & it mashes up avocados in no time flat...absolute perfection. And bananas for banana bread? It couldn't be easier. Great product.
This is a well-built, rugged piece of equipment. Which I need. When I make hash browns, I use this to squeeze all the water out. It makes for crispy hash browns very quick. But it puts a strain on the ricer. This one stands up to it.
I bought this product for a particular recipe I wanted to make, and it worked very well for that. I have found it to be useful for ricing other foods as well and am very pleased with it. It is sturdy and practical. I would certainly recommend it.
Great item. Easy to use and easy to clean up.
The ricer is a superior product. It mashes very well and since it is stainless steel I expect it will outlast me.
I use my ricer not only to mash potatoes but also to strain tomatoes and also to prepare eggplant for pickling. It makes all these jobs so much quicker and easier and is so easy to clean. I put it on the top rack of my dishwasher and it comes out sparkling.
Jumbo Potato Ricer works very well, very unique with multiple uses.
