Steam Your Asparagus Right
by Janelle, NM

I LOVE asparagus and steaming is the best way to cook it. YEARS ago I had a wonderful steamer pot which was crushed when we moved to Oregon -- I used that pot to cook all my veggies and was sad when I couldn't. When I saw this product I was estatic!! It's smaller than my first one, put I like that it is stainless steel and it cooks great! Also good for corn and long carrots. The basket makes it so easy to remove the veggies too. A great addition to any kitchen.

I am very pleased with the asparagus cooker, however I find it a little difficult to remove the asparagus from it. The asparagus comes out bright green and tender all the way to the tip.

My wife and I like to steam our vegtables and since there are just two of us at most times for dinner, and we don't want to dirty a large pot for asparagus or corn on the cob, we just avoid them. This serves our needs perfectly.

Well what can you say about this product? It is what it is. It holds the asparagus less than 1/2" from the bottom of the pot so they tell you to put 3" of water in the pot so the bottoms of the stalks will always be submerged, I suppose this is by design. I also had to cut off a few inches from the bottom of the stalks to get them to fit in this pot because otherwise they would have been too tall. The asparagus came out fine, though a bit stringy on the lower parts, but I dont blame the steamer for that. All in all it does what it was designed to do and is worth the price compared to the competition. Paying more for a thicker/shinier pot wont make the asparagus come out any better in my opinion.

The shipping was a little slow, but it was the holiday week. It arrived just in time - 12/24. The asparagus pot is wonderful - I love it! I also look forward to cooking corn on the cob in it this summer. Great price for a great quality cooker/steamer.

I think, if the holes in the pull out container
were smaller ,would it be perfect for me.The
lid is lightweight, easy to burn hands if not careful with the steam ,handles get very hot
I think is little overprized for what it offers.

Use it for Other Veggies!!

I gave this to my son and daughter-in-law as they mentioned they were tired of grilling Asparagus. I already own one of the Steamers and loved it for Asparagus.
The next time I visited them, which was only a week later, they had already used in on Asparagus, Summer Squash and Cauliflower.
The said it didn't work very well on Broccoli but were excited about trying it on other veggies.
They were very happy with the gift being veggie lovers! The fact is though, neither one of us expected it to be so versatile. We got more than we expected! Thank you!

I am returning the asparagus steamer because I didn't realize how small it is. I thought I could use it for other things but I don't eat enough asparagus to make it that useful.

This is a great little veggie steamer, but I wish the holes in the mesh basket were a bit thinner so that I could steam other small veggies, like smaller pieces of broccoli.

The photo of the product shows the top being so shiney I leaped to the wrong conclusion it was glass, rather it is stainless metal. More significant to me is that the inner basket started to rust at its weld joints after only one use.

I do like the product, but. My old steamer had a lip on the basket about 1/2 way down so you could bring the basket up 1/2 way and attach it to the pan so the contents could drip a little.
Other than that I also use it for 'corn on the cob'. It works great!

Wanted one sooo bad...and this does the trick.

I have a lot of other pots and pans but this one fills a niche in my collections.

The pull out basket is neat..though once pulled out..the asparagus poke through the holes on the bottoms. It wasn't really a problem and didn't

It was well made and easy to use. All metal, nothing to brake (some have glasslids) Help when the Asparagus has tough bottoms.

Cooking Tip From the Food Network Kitchens

Shopping for asparagus? Look for bunches with tightly closed, purple-tinged heads and green, hydrated stems. The thicker the stalk, the stronger the flavor.
