The wide, shallow shape of these pieces exposes the maximum surface area of the food to the heat source, whether it be all around heat in the oven or under the broiler. They can also be used on the stovetop for frying. For best results, in cooking roast meats, poultry or poaching fish the dish should be filled almost to the brim, so the top browns and crisps quickly, leaving the food beneath moist. These dishes are ideal for making pasta dishes such as lasagna and baking delicious pies and desserts such as fruit cake and gingerbread. Great for pastry, the cast iron spreads the heat evenly and well with no soggy middles to pies or tarts. Also excellent for marinating - the surface will not spoil or discolor. They make elegant serving dishes, too.

I love LeCreuset cookware and have nothing negative to say except that those new to these pots and pans should be aware of how heavy they are. Of course, the cast iron is one of the things that allows them to cook so beautifully. The colors are cheerful and the enamelized surface cleans up easily. The 5 qt baking/roasting pan is multipurpose (roast a chicken, bake a crisp), performs beautifully and is attractive enough to move directly to the table or buffet. The pan is expensive but will last forever and I would definitely recommend for those who can comfortably manipulate this weighty cookware.
This product is great. Have others in this line and would recommend them to all.
Love it! Love it! Love it! It is expensive but well worth the price. It is a perfect size for so many things and who could not love the great way this bakeware performs. I have several other Le Crueset pieces and love them all.
