Made of sturdy steel, this very striking 8-qt. Stockpot is worth its weight in style and function. Although it's not made of cast iron like it's cookware counterparts (you'd need Paul Bunyan to lift it!), the steel coated with double-enamel conducts heat evenly and rapidly and the exterior holds up to everyday use. Easy to clean and manage. Dual side handles are large enough for a secure grip and the chrome-rimmed lid sits snugly on top to seal in juices and flavors. Simmer a pot of chili or serve soup for the gang. It's a must-have piece for any kitchen, and complements other Le Creuset cookware in the same color.
About Le Creuset...
Since 1925, artisans have been crafting Le Creuset cookware in the French village of Fresnoy Le Grand. Each piece of Le Creuset cast iron cookware is handcast, polished, double enamel-coated and then fired, resulting in some of the finest quality cookware available. Cast iron is one of the best materials for distributing heat gently and thoroughly and is ideal for induction ranges. The strong enamel coating will not absorb odors or flavors, and is easy to clean. Heavy lids securely seal in moisture and flavor. Le Creuset cookware comes in a variety of sizes, colors and styles to match any kitchen and cooking preference. So lasting, you'll pass it on to the next generation of promising cooks.
The bottom of the stockpot is not flat. I made popcorn in it, using plenty of oil and all the oil left the middle of the pan, scorching and staining the inside pan bottom. I would expect far better quality for the price I paid.
Le CREUSET! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING? IS THIS A JOKE? YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR ALLOWING THE NAME OF Le CREUSET ON THIS PRODUCT. TO ME IT DOSEN'T FEEL LIKE....I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO RETURN THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE I BELIEVE I PURCHASED AN IMPOSTOR BY THE WAY OF THE NET. YES! I'LL ADMIT THE PRICE OF A TRUE STOCKPOT BY Le CREUSET WILL CAUSE MY POCKETS TO RUN DEEP, BUT I REALLY LOVE THE LOOK AND FEEL OF A TRUE Le CREUSET, SO PAYING A LITTLE EXTRA I DON'T MIND.
The enamel quickly flaked off the handles of this pot. I have already returned it.
This must be the thinnest stainless steel available, there is no heft to the pot. For the price it should have been a heaver quality SSW.
I have many pieces of le creuset none of them this lightweight... I thought the price reflected a closeout not a "low end " le creuset ... a decent pot for someone starting out I guess.
