About Le Creuset...
Since 1925, artisans have been crafting Le Creuset cookware in the French village of Fresnoy Le Grand. Each piece of Le Creuset cast iron cookware is handcast, polished, double enamel-coated and then fired, resulting in some of the finest quality cookware available. Cast iron is one of the best materials for distributing heat gently and thoroughly and is ideal for induction ranges. The strong enamel coating will not absorb odors or flavors, and is easy to clean. Heavy lids securely seal in moisture and flavor. Le Creuset cookware comes in a variety of sizes, colors and styles to match any kitchen and cooking preference. So lasting, you'll pass it on to the next generation of promising cooks.

Excellent soup, stew, or pasta pot
by Jeremy, MN
January 19, 2012

I choose this Stockpot as my first piece of Le Creuset and it is a delight to cook with. During the winter I like to make stews and soups from scratch and don't have much experience with enamel.

This pot is rather light but sturdy and made of steel with a glossy enamel coating (tan on the inside, various colors outside). The finish is flawless and hand washing is reccomended to maintain its luster. The size fits perfectly over my gas burners and distributes heat well to saute vegetables for starting a soup and deglace for completing the recipe. Heat is very evenly distributed and it is a pleasure to clean as the enamel seems to hold up better than teflon to recipes that would cling to stainless steel or aluminum.

Dented lid and pot
by Janice, MO
March 11, 2013

The pot and lid both had a small dent in the same area. I debated about returning them, but the dent was small and I didn't want to go throught the hassle. It made me think I should have bought at a local store, since I would have checked the merchandise for dents before purchasing! The pot itself is great. Good looking, great size, performs well. I've made several pots of soup in it and am pleased. I do think it's pretty expensive.

Great pot and a perfect size
by Elina, NY

I was looking for a universal pot where I can cook soup, pasta and boil a small lobster and this is the perfect pot. It looks great and washes easily. Getting the sticker of the bottom was a pain (why put it on the bottom where the fire is?)... I used an alcohol pad and after some serious rubbing I got it off. Love this new addition to my kitchen :)
