I bought this because I have a Ken Onion Shun chef's knife. I wasn't happy about having to buy a sharpener specifically for these types of knives, but if you buy one, you have to be aware...This sharpener definitely does the trick. When bought, this knife is extremely sharp. This sharpener brings it back to its original cutting edge. It's a lot of money to spend to sharpen one knife. But, it's that, or take it to a local butcher to do it. Now, if you have more than one knife, it is definitely worth the expense.
If any person want to have new knife always get one of this sharpener, is the best and at same time is so elegant that I always have it display on my kitchen counter
Very nice, looks good, easy to use and really sharpens the knives well, This was what I though it would be.
The directions took me a while to figure out, but it is very easy to use. I've never had an electric sharpener before, but it sure is easier than using a grindstone manually.
This sharpener is a must have if you own Japanese style knives, that is knives with a sharper 14-16 degree edge as opposed to the standard 24. The sharpener is very powerful and takes a little getting used to before you get the the knives back to there out of the box sharpness. If there is one thing I was disappointed in was the fact that I was not able to fully sharpen my boning knife due to the deep set stones of the sharpener making it nearly impossible to sharpen the handle end of the blade. Overall I wouldn't live without this sharpener owning nearly a dozen Shun knives and it was long over due.
